I failed

I have not been here in a while because once again I failed at dieting. I was doing really good and lost over 20 lbs but then got busy, went right back to my old habits, gained everything back. My story has the same ending it always has. I can't seem to change anything.

Okay, I am taking a deep breath and trying again. Again.

Hi there - I'm in the same boat. It's a life-long process once you start changing your habits. You'll be able to do it again!! Hang in there. :)

When I was posting here on a regular basis I found I did a better job of maintaining, so that might work for you, too. You get into conversations with other who are having the same difficulties you are. You get encouragement when you are doing good, and helpful suggestions when you are not so good. You did it before and you can do it again.

It happens to everybody you know? We all fall off the wagon, feel demotivated and discouraged time to time. All that matters is how soon you can come back to the track. Do not give up. You can do this. Just remind yourself how good it'll feel when you reach your goal.

An important thing to realize about short-term failures is that most of the weight you put on isn't fat so you can get rid of it almost as quickly as you put it on.  LOSING WEIGHT IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE is available for free at amazon through Wednesday.  It has graphs that show that large gains in weight over multiday periods of non-adherence won't stop you from attaining and maintaining your goal.  Your weight may regress, but your status doesn't.  You'll knock it off within a week and be back on track.  Just don't get discouraged and give up.
