I was at the gym yesterday during what I call "man hour" (it's when a large group of men get together and work out each day together) and I heard them discussing soreness after a workout. I must have heard "no pain no gain" at least a half dozen times and then listened to a long list of injuries (and surgeries!)

I think it's the group setting, too. I thought it might be the ego of, "She's my mom's age and is doing it so I should be able to do it, too!" I'll even jokingly cue, "C'mon give it your all!

Case in point--they had to call the ambulance today for a guy who worked out so hard that he got sick and almost passed out. Seriously?

The men and women at the corporate facility are very similar in make up--techy types, mostly single or newly married, no kids. It's a young company.
