Been jogging with friends

I have been jogging with friends the past few weeks and I just can't make myself like it. I like being with the group and love the challeng for myself but don't enjoy this exercise. I don't know how to get myself out of hte group now as everyone is all excited and now they are getting tshirts made for us. My husand says to suck it up and be part of the group for a few more weeks since I am having fun with everyone and then let the cold weaterh be my excuse. I just don't know. Is there some way I can make myself enjoy this more for a while?

I'm where you are and I've been running w/ this group for years and we've done 10 milers up to marathons together!  I did it for the same reason as you--it's a challenge and it's nice to socialize. What I've been doing lately is meeting up w/ them to run and then going off by myself and then meeting them at the end.  We cool down/walk and chat and sometimes go for coffee.  I miss the running w/ them part but I can go my own pace, enjoy myself.  It's been surprisingly nice.  If your friends do a loop, I sometimes walk/ run the opposite direction and then run back w/ them. Think about how good you feel when you've done a run--that's why I keep it going.  It does help to have something to train for, eg. the color run. Has your group thought of doing something like that?

It's a personal choice...either solution is fine.  I am the type of person who would just stop running, and ask the group if they wanted to join me in some other activity.  I dislike running and just don't do it.  What do YOU want to do?

Kay, I am not much of a runner either so I am right there with you. I am double-minded on this topic. I agree with your husband that if you enjoy being with the group and are enjoying the challenge to yourself, then continue for a while and bow out when the weather turns ugly. I am currently doing this right now just as a personal challenge to myself.

On the other hand, if you aren't happy, why do something you don't like. Does your gym have other groups you can join?
