I was thinking about that SNL skit where Billy Crystal said, "you look maaarvelous!" Lol.
"It's not just about looking good,"
It's not at all about looking good. I think it's about ignoring the mirror and what you look like and getting healthy. They've found that people who adopt a healthy lifestyle in order to be healthy stick with it far more than those who work out for appearance. Skinny is not automatically healthy and being overweight is not automatically unhealthy.
Wow, what an eye-opener! It's not just about looking good, it's about truly feeling good which equates to healthy living!

Thank you very much Jean! Unfortunately it was a health crisis that snapped me back into reality, but I am glad I caught it early and was able to get it under control. I had always been very active and fit, but my nutrition choices were very poor. After getting married, we moved across country and I had 2 more kids in 3 years and that really knocked me for a loop. Its such a great feeling to be eating better and so active again and to be able to play with the kids and not be exhausted from it!

I love that clip and what the woman was saying. She seems to know what she's talking about. I've talked about this forever on this board that we need to get away from fear of being fat and measuring health by size. If you work out, eat well, you'll end up at a healthy place. Too many people think they're healthy because they're light enough on the scale but they can't climb the stairs without panting. Not being fat makes people complacent. People have asked me why I work out since I'm thin enough. Because I want to feel good!
Over the last 6-7 years I have fit into the category. My nutrition has been very poor and I had stopped exercising altogether, but I am very naturally thin. I have spent a lot of time over the last year getting back to eating very well, exercising, etc. I have people that will make comments about how I don't need to go to an exercise class or what what I eat because I am skinny. I just tell them that skinny does not equal healthy, and my priority is now to be healthy.
