Malpractice.  "You have ghetto lung (aka lung cancer but that's too complicated for you to understand so I'll use a cutesy phrase), but there's no cure for ghetto lung."

Yeah, my immediate thought was that this guy has never heard of physical therapy or corrrective exercises.

I've been reading about this. There is no lawsuit. She filed charges because it was inappropriate.  Just as bad, the doctor said she had lordosis for which there is no cure.  Yes there is--you can strenghten certain muscle groups to help with this (lower crossed syndrome).  This doctor just needs to be educated, sadly.

I believe it. I think this woman has a lot of courage to come forward and press charges against someone who is not providing the standard of care that he should be. My guess is that his derogatory term is only the tip of the iceberg. The patient who is taking the time to go forward is making it better for every subsequent patient that comes in. Is it worthy of a lawsuit? Absolutely. Most people are too apathetic to take action. But the ones who go forward truly make a difference in the world. When people are charged a service, they deserve the same standard of care that the highest ranking official would receive.

I agree. It was meaningless and derogatory.  Ghetto booty is even less helpful than lordosis.  He's never heard of swayback?  That's what I use but it's easy enough to describe as an excessive curve, which is what I'll also say. He was caught up in his own stupid self-perceived cleverness.

I don't think she sued...filing a complaint isn't suing...and she definitely has something to complain about....the explanation was not just offensive, it was unhelpful...she couldn't google it for more info....

That would be a good response.  I'd be upset about being given that diagnosis so I don't think she's supersensitive but not worth a lawsuit.  There's no law against insensitive stupidity. But, I'd definitely post reviews about the doctor.

I would file a complaint against him with the medical board and encourage my insurance company to drop him.  But a lawsuit?  Nah.

I think the doctor needs sensitivity training.  His claim that he was trying to make something technical understandable is BS and I think he knows it.

I think the Dr.'s comment was inappropriate but can't see that he is guilty of anything other than stupidity. I'd probably have huffed at him and made an appointment with a real professional.
