I think it's HORRIBLE when anyone wears makeup to the gym.

I think a big part of it is what is taught, too. I don't think sexy clothes or make up would be out of place with Zumba but you don't need the strappy minimal tops/tights when you're teaching boot camp.

Yeah, overly sexed up turns me off too...

I wear the minimum, as I do in regular life--liner, shadow, blush. I have forgotten and stil think I look the same so don't know why I bother.

I hate to admit but yes..I do notice what they are wearing and I think it makes a difference. We have this one instructor at the gym who insists on wearing the latest workout styles-at least a size or two too small. She is not a large person to begin with so I can't understand why her clothes are so tight on her. I don't know how she moves and it really is distracting to stare at the back of someone doing Turbo-kick (and other classes) in clothes that are obviously too small.
As far as makeup-most of the instructors wear bare minimum if any at all.

Target has great fitting women's tanks that I wear all the time to work out in. I used to wear mens until I discovered these: http://www.target.com/p/Mossimo-Supply-Co-Juniors-Long-Lean-Tank-Fresh-White/-/A-12133764

If you buy the men's "wife beaters", you get about 3 of them for that price. :)

I was told at an instructor workshop that you need to dress for the audience so if you're working with seniors, you don't show up in a hootchie mamma outfit that shows everything.
