Omgosh, I was at the gym when the news started reporting this: http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/15/us/boston-marathon-explosions/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 Everyone was standing around watching in horror. Who would do this???

It's horrible!

I couldn't peel myself away from the TV yesterday, even though it was the same stuff over and over.  I only do big races and it's crossed my mind that it could be prime for something like that when you have 20,000-50,000 people running and who knows how many spectators, but I think there's an optimism in being a runner that it never deterred me (and still won't).  The whole thing was so horrible; I don't know what I'd do.After 26 miles, you get focused on the goal and can't even think.  And, I started thinking logistically of the runners who didn't finish but had to find a way home, not being able to find friends/family, having no money, cell phone, and what they did.

I  couldn't peel myself away either. Many of the people I watched the coverage with at the gym are long distance runners and they were talking about the same thing. I haven't competed in a while but I've been at the finish line   at many a race cheering people on, holding phones, jackets, drinks, etc. I can't even begin to imagine the sheer horror of it all. It had to have been complete chaos.

I saw this on the news and it is so scary. Is anyone going to be able to go to sporting events again without worrying about being blown up?
