Fifty and short shorts

If a woman is almost 50 years old, lean and in good shape, is it okay to wear short gym shorts? There are some things no amount of squats, lunges and deadlifts are going to cure as the back end heads south--but can I just "let it all hang out anyway?" (hehehehe--I'm talking veins and cellulite)

As long as your comfortable, go for it!  50 is just a number.  And self confidence is everything.  I dress sexier today at 40 then at 21.... Cause I had too many needless self esteem issues then.  But Now I'm comfortable and laugh at those "What to stop wearing after 30, 40, 50" type articles.   If you feel good in something....that's all that matters.

I kow women who do and look great. But if you're asking for yourself, that probably means you might be self conscious when you do and being self conscious is never a good look!  I know 60 year old women who look better than a lot of 20 year olds so it's not an age thing, it's a confidence thing.  Besides, what better way to embarass your teen?;-)  Just kidding, I'd never do it because I'm far too self conscious.

I think that you can wear whatever you are comfortable with. If you think that you look fine then go for it! I've never been a fan of "daisy dukes" shorts, so short that you can see "butt cleavage" (yes, that's what what they called it at the Coachella music festival this year LOL) but then I'm not a fan of anything hanging out of clothes except for limbs. I wear mid-thigh length shorts for exercise, and a little bit longer for running around town (I'm in SoCal where people wear shorts and flip flops in public, to almost everywhere, even downtown). If you're talking about wearing the short shorts to the gym, remember that shorts can ride up etc during certain moves so you might end up showing more than you expected.

IMO if you're 50 and can even consider short shorts then: you go girl!

You reminded me of the poem that inspired the Red Hat Ladies..when I am old I will wear purple, with a big red hat...worth googling if you don't know it. I wear shorts outside the house, but not short shorts....but I am not thin enough...if I were I might....my mother used to tell me 'you can't we're shorts on the street in the city.' but now I live in the city, so I break the role...

When I have a question like that, I ask myself "Will I care about this when I'm 85 years old?"

The short answer is no.

The long answer is that when I'm 85, I will audibly fart in Walgreens, have cake for breakfast and wolf whistle at construction men.  Cool

I usually wear my Soffe shorts in the house (yes I have a few pairs-lol) but I rarely ever venture out in them anymore. I have some longer Adidas shorts or capris for the gym.

That's a decision we each have to make. It's what we are comfortable with. As I've seen some women wear very short shorts and not look so great on the back, I realize that there is only so much that you can cover up with age Unless you are exceptionally fit. I am somewhat modest, and although I wear bike shorts to work out, I am finding that mid thigh is what I most comfortable with.

lol...;)...

I am ALMOST fifty-five and this is really the first year/Spring/Summer I have worn shorts...

Last year I wore cut-off jean shorts to move...it was really HOT...

This year I have worn them and a pair of shorts like those leggings...mine are dark blue and come to about my knee or just about...

I think if you are comfortable why not?

I had still do some self-esteem issues but have decided since my heart attack five years ago to not stress out and please myself...

Today, I even have my flip-flops on in my house...

Worn them outside to which is something I would not have done in the past...

We ONLY have ONE Life to Live...

<3...:)...
