What do you use for your walking/running/cycling app?

I currently use iRunner https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/irunner-running-jogging-walking/id304074554?mt=8 but wonder what else is out there that might be better.

I use MapMyWalk

http://www.mapmywalk.com/

I've been pretty happy with it so far, you can also track your nutrition and share your history online with friends.

I use a simple pedometer which you can get at Target or similar stores for under $10. I know there are more hi-tech things that can be used, like Melissa mentioned but simple has been good for me :)

I have a cycling-specific device---a cyclometer---that displays and measures distance, speed, length of ride/workout, calories spent, cadence (rpm) and HR (I have to wear a chest strap). It holds up to 7 files which can be downloaded into a "training log" on the Polar website but I don't actually do anything with the data. I use the device mainly to see what I'm doing while I'm doing it, such as HR or mph.

For walking, I used to wear an inexpensive pedometer but these days I just walk without tracking anything.

Do you track your nutrition? How long does it take you to add all that info in each day? I thought about doing that just to see where I was at with calories but have never taken time to try it.

How far do you ride each week? Do you ever compete?

I have tracked nutrition at Sparkpeople.com when trying to diet, it gives a nutritional analysis that can be used for any reason. You can also enter your exercise data  for a complete picture. When strictly counting calories I tend to do it on a piece of paper...inputting all the data into the website was pretty time consuming.

I have never competed on the bike, nor will I....I am too nervous riding in a pack! and I'm not very competitive anyway. I can ride "shoulder to shoulder" with somebody I trust (their riding style and skills) at an easy pace. Drafting off of somebody's back wheel is difficult for me, it requires so much concentration not to clip wheels.

These days my mileage is about 35-40 miles in a good week---that's a week where I actually get my butt to the track on MWF. Several years ago I worked with an online cycling coach for 6 months and was really dedicated, at that time I was riding 100 miles a week or more, on 4 days (3 training and one long road ride). In that period I did some charity rides, a women-only metric century with a friend I made here at iVillage and two 50 milers. I did another metric century with my dh a couple of years after that but no events since then.

That's awesome that you bike so much. Are you still doing races? I've been thinking I should take up biking more. I enjoy it more than running but then I only bike casually.

This is a great question. I need to know better apps for my clients since I never carry my phone when I work out. I use my super old clunky garmin if I need to know mileage but it's so old fashioned now!

I have never been into cycling though I tried a few times. My husband bought us matching bikes for our 20th anniversary so I tried it for the last time. I have too many body aches (butt, hands, knees) when riding that I just can't enjoy anything. I know it is probably because my bike doesn't fit properly and I don't want to spend the money getting something when I know I won't use it.

Jean, my sister bought be a super slim runner's waist pack for my birthday and I can now take my phone with me. I can fit my car key and my phone in it and it isn't weighted down or heavy around my waist. It pretty much stays put and I don't even notice it is there.
