If you are in your 40s can you still jump with no problems? I have noticed that i tsruggle with jumping now. I dont know if it is my balance or what but anything that requires a jump takes a lot more of my energy than it used to. Like box jumps. They are getting harder for me not easier.

There isn't a simple answer to that question.  As we age, tissues become less elastic so it makes sense that jumping/plyometric activities are harder.  I would recommend a bone density text to make sure you aren't at risk for osteoporosis or osteopenia.  If you feel okay doing it, I would probably say it's alright but you might get the bone density test just to be sure.

Hi Kay, I had to do box jumps in a class I was in last night and I had trouble with them. I can't just pop up like I used to. I had to concentrate but don't know if it is a matter of coordination or my eye sight. lol I can't see well close up and don't like wearing my glasses to work out so I had to make sure I actually hit the platform on both feet when jumping. I hit the edge a few times and nearly fell over. I had to do step ups the last few rounds of the class because I didn't want to get hurt.

But really, jumping has become a slight issue for me. I can't jump up or out like I used to be able.

I have bone issues with my feet, so I don't do any jumping. I wish I could jump rope, I loved to do that as a kid and it seems like such a simple way to burn calories. In Zumba lasses, if there is a jump move, I usually just step during it..

You've already gotten good advice. I want to add also that fear is bigger as we get older. I jump fine but put an obstacle in the way, and it is a mental challenge to get around it.  It really is a problem for parkour. What are you doing for your legs, as strength training goes?
