According to Politico, "Ryan, a former trainer, says he keeps his body fat between 6 percent and 8 percent. “I’m kind of a skinny guy,” he admits." read more about it

I think it would be great to have a fitness buff in the Whitehouse (I'm not getting into Politics just thinking about health here). Personally I think if more than just a dozen Congressmen were more serious about fitness/health then they could lead by example and exercise and healthy eating might become more a lifestyle than just an afterthought.

I think it's awesome when people who are really busy make time for workouts because it shows it can be done, for most people.  There are quite a few members of Congress who have run marathons or are very active.  Mike Huckabee is one who stands out in mind because he also lost over 100 lbs.  I love that he jumped in and defended Michele Obama's initiative to get kids to eat better (I'm still floored that people had problems w/ that).  It's something everyone should stand up for and I'm sad that it's become political.  I will also add the political thought that we, as tax payers, are paying for their health insurance--we have financial incentive for them to be fit and healthy, never mind that they're trying to run the country!

All joking aside, I think we could solve our health care problem in this country if people changed their lifestyle.  I was discouraged recently because my husband was just prescribed cholesterol medication. Really?  Why not change the lifestyle first? He wasn't even given the option or told how to do it.  And, he won't listen to me (even though, as I tell him, people pay me good money to give them advice)--THAT'S what I'd love to ask Michele Obama.  How to get your spouse to listen, if you can. It's hard enough with a civilian but how do you do it when your husband is POTUS???

Yes!  Fitness crosses party lines, and the more media buzz around it, the better!  I loved that Michelle Obama was doing pushups on the Ellen show, and the fact that President Obama likes to play basketball after a long day of work.  Adding Ryan to the equation, and anyone else is good-good-great!

I was reading about Ryan's group doing P90X and there are both parties there doing it. So cool.  It's kind of intense but it sets a good example. Move!

hahaha-do ask Michelle Obama that question because I'd like to know too! My husband is as stubborn as they come and he refuses to go to the doctor for anything. I finally talked him into going a few weeks ago when he was unable to move his arm at all (shoulder injury) and he went and got a cortisone shot which helped tremendously. Had he gone the first day instead of a week later he may have prevented much suffering for himself.

Exactly!  Those who pull up together, stay together.  Haha, at least they've found one thing they can agree on.

Do you watch Modern Family? There's a great episode about wedge salad that's about this.  It was a riot and has become a family joke whenever my husband ignores something I say but then praises someone else for showing him the same thing.

Oh my word. Can you picture the floor of the Senate loaded with sweat-panted Senators who were competing to be the first one done with situps so they get to give their speech first. Or, can you imagine the conversations around the chin-up bars as they try to help each other during that last set of 10 pullups. ;;;Hey, we might be onto something....
