I feel like I'm like a vulture with this--there is a sports conditioning class that's on Monday mornings at the sister gym. It's along the lines of my class, only the instructor gets 1-4 people every week and that's it.

So I asked a couple of people at the gym if they'd done her classes and both, independently, said she was boring.

If she asks you to come to the class and give her feedback, I'd do it.

But otherwise, don't go. If you do end up with that slot, you want to be as far removed from that decision as possible. Otherwise, I think it could stir up a lot of drama.

That makes so much sense. I went to the gym but avoided the class.

It's a mistake to assume that other people want what you would want. It's also a mistake to assume that they can handle the things that you can handle.

Criticism is tough to swallow. I think it's imperative if you're going to excel in what you do, but it's hard for many to accept. I think you did the right thing. :)

I'm wondering how open to feedback she is. When I first auditioned at the dance studio to teach step, the owner told me I was a split second ahead of the music which was probably the best thing anyone ever told me (and everyone else was afraid to speak up).

"It's a mistake to assume that other people want what you would want."

That's so true.

"I used to always feel responsible for everyone else and it only brought me heartache. "

Yeah, that's me.
