Hi all, just checking in and I noticed the changes here. Are all the boards combined now? How's everyone doing?

Wow! You are so busy! :) it sounds like everything's going well with you. You can prepare for empty nest syndrome but if your daughter is anything like my kids, it won't last! Lol! My oldest moved back in and out again 3 times, mu middle daughter, twice and my son is on his third time back! I'm glad we can be there for our kids when they need us. Now I don't even think about having an empty nest. Sometimes, it's empty; sometimes it's full! My husband and have learned to be flexible. I'm busy and very active at work, as usual. I'm an assistant program manager for our school district's after school program so that keeps me up and running. My biggest problem there is trying to find dress shoes that are as comfortable as sneakers. I usually bring a change of shoes and that seems to help give my feet a break. I'm doing well at working out again. I had a break for a while there but I've been working out consistently everyday, at home. I've been doing Pilates, too, my old standby. I like it because I don't have to be on my feet for it! Lol also weights, walking the pup, and regular old cardio. I've been doin well on my eating, too. Have been going through menopause for the last year. The hot flashes finally stopped and things seem to be settling down. So I've found that its best overall if I eat much less each day. My little granddaughter is 2 and a half now and spending a day with her burns more calories than any exercise program ever could! Lol All in all, things are very good!

I loved cooking and managing the restaurant. It was so much work but so much fun. We had a great season, too. I think we doubled and sometimes tripled the busines there. I won't be doing it again though. Someone else is taking over the contract and she has her own staff. Also, leaving my husband and house for 4 months was hard. Plus he didn't do any outside work on the flowers, etc, while I was gone, so it was pretty overgrown and crazy when I got home! I had to work on it all for weeks to get it back in shape! Lol I was called to teach cooking again but that was so much work. I wanted a management position and it turned out that an asst manager position was open in our school district's after school program so I work at two sites, 4 days a week. It's great. I love the job. So now I manage the programs and teachers, rather than just teaching classes. It's a nice break. I'll be looking for something for summer, though, and then I'll be back there in the fall. Things are going well! How about with you?

Have you tried footsmart for shoes? They're not always the most attractive but they are the most attractive for comfortable shoes I've found.

Have you ever thought of cooking professionally?

Hi Cathy-how are you?

Not all the boards are combined. Some smaller boards with like topics have been combined into one page so those posting can find more people to talk to. It really is working well for those who didn't typically see a whole lot of replies each week.

Thanks fornthe site. I'll check into it. I've tried cooking professionally but don't have enough experience to get hired. Ie been looking for part time catering assistant to get my foot in the door. I need a commercial kitchen in order to cook from my home - a dedicated space approved by the board of health. County regulations! I understand them but, too bad! What a great job you've found. It really does sound like it was tailor made for you! Very cool. I'll have to stay more in touch with you guys! :)

If I could find myself a commercial kitchen, I'd be in business! Maybe something will come up. The interesting thing I found out about menopause is that if you start taking hrt, even lowdose hrt, you're going to experience all of the regular menopause symptoms once younstopntaking the medication! So it's either hot flashes now when I can take them, or not flashes when I'm in my 70's and may not have the same stamina. (notice I said "might" not. LOL!) My doctor told me on my last physical that she has patients in their 80's who just have never been strong enough to come off hrt! They're so frail now, she said they wouldn't be able to do it. I'm glad to have, probably, 90% of it behind me. What an awful experience!!! Haha.
