Did you know there was a difference in fat? There's a good fat-brown and a bad fat-white. And there is also a hormone injection to turn white fat into brown. Read More: Injecting Hormones as Good as Working Out?

Would you get an irisin injection if it were available?

No, not until clincial studies were done AND the product were in public use for years to identify the side effects.

This is interesting. I've never heard of brown/white fat so I've just spent some time reading up about it. I don't understand how they're turning white fat into brown fat, since that seems to be also functionally related to location.

I always laugh when I read that title. I think it's going to lead into a Dr. Seuss type post--white fat, brown fat, what begins with fat?

lol I hadn't heard of it either so after reading I thought I'd come ask you girls if you had heard of this. I don't believe I'd get the injection either. It seems like no matter how much they try to find the magic, no-workout-no-diet cure for fat, it either doesn't work in the long run or could have deadly consequences.

Awww thank you Fresh.

My sister snapped that photo of me and insisted it would make a great sig when we saw it, but all I see when I look at it is my burned up hair. I had just gotten a perm and it fried my hair completely. lol It's been a few months since that photo and thankfully my hair is back to normal.

It's so funny how our minds work isn't it? ;-)

Siigghh. While I think that applications like this would be great for those with impaired mobility I cringe everytime I hear about a 'scientific breakthrough' that encourages sedentary behaviour.

I wouldn't consider this at all for myself, and wonder if it has any impact on the other organs that reap the benefits of regular exercise - like healthy heart, and lungs.

Exactly. Exercise does so much for you, not just in brown and white fat, that it would be a shame to use that and not get the other benefits. It's both physical and mental.
