I was talking to a friend of mine who has been going to a Zumba class, taught by two Latin guys. She said they're amazing and they pack the room, with about 200 people.

With your background, you could defintely give it a try! Have you ever thought of teaching?

The fitness would could fit around your current work schedule, if you wanted to try it. I think Zumba is a trend and you could make a lot of money on it right now but not in a couple of years. The choreography I've heard is a killer to put together because you've got to do 15-17 songs but once you do, you just change out 3-4 each week to keep it fresh.

Hey Jean, we have a Zumba board http://forums.ivillage.com/ivillage/?category.id=iv-fbzumba here where the CL is an instructor and she teaches a bunch of classes. She might have some thoughts about how much money a Zumba instructor makes. I know they don't make even close to that at my gym and the Zumba classes are always packed out.

For Zumba instructors in gyms, they're paid what regular instructors are but if they decide to go it alone, and they're really good, they can obviously do incredibly well. It's running a business but I still think Zumba is a short lived fad and will be gone in a few years.

Perhaps it could morph into something more - different dance steps...a midway between different dance and cardio?

I've read predictions that it will morph back into the old fashioned hi/lo.

lol. I've tried several dancing exercise classes and they just aren't for me. I try to get to Zumba classes when I can (my mother LOVES it so I try to encourage her to do whatever it takes to keep her active) but I always feel silly shaking my hips and some of the other pelvic involved moves in public.
