This menopause-interrupted sleep is "for the birds!"  I snow lowed and shoveled twice yesterday, and I am waiting to do it again this morning, but I don't want to wake the neighbors, so I am waiting for a bit.  6 am is ok, yes?  How are you guys on the east coast?  It looks like you are getting great ski conditions, yes, Jean?  i recall that powder is GREaT for skiing.

work today, yoga tonight, quilt design late tonight.  I am contemplating a trip to Florida with dd for the Harry Potter amusement park.  ShAli's a true HP fan, and I really enjoy her company, and she is such a great kid, so maybe?  YOLO.  HAH!

It's such a great opportunity. Few of us actually get a chance to go off on our own and explore. I think you do learn a lot about yourself when you do that.  Who knows, maybe when this career ends, you'll find something else more exciting to do.  It sounds like you're not one to let grass grow under your feet.

LOL, no, I jumped off the corporate ladder, you just went slower than you could have so you could have your life.  When I have wondered if I made the right decision, I remember how much I hated being inside all day long, working long hours, etc. and think about what end result would probably be--no matter how high you get, there will always be higher and more.  Honestly, looking from the outside, for me, the corporate world sucks.  Politics, game playing, money, prestige, worry; and the higher you go, the worst it gets. I'm happy I left. I would like to get into the non-profit world, though, and do something that would make a difference, not just a financial end result.

SJ, it's funny that you say that because I was wondering why I am anointed to work with this executive, when, it seems more appropriate for someone else who wants to be promoted. I am on the tail end of my career, too, and, frankly speaking, I jumped off the corporate ladder long ago. I wished that I would have climbed higher, but given the life events that occurred, I am happy with my choices. Karla, I agree with SJ...everyone grieves differently, and your BIL sounds like one of my brothers who got crazy when my dad was near death. My thoughts and prayers remain with you. Jean, enjoy what is left of your ski season AND your birthday weekend. Gymrat, YEA for getting towards sinus relief. SJ, enjoy your last 3 weeks, and hooray for the opportunity. Life is good. I just made a Pinterest-inspired quinoa dish, and now, will go workout at the gym, do some quilt designing, go shopping with dh, and do some legal BS. Enjoy!

Even if your trips aren't at an ideal period in your career, I still think it's awesome that you get to do them. I love that if we so choose, we can continue learning about ourselves and the world indefinitely. The day I stop wanting to learn is probably the day I step in front of a bus. ;)

I have been offered opportunities to do this in the past, but never could while my Mother was living. I don't know if I will get more chances as I am near the end of my career and really these experiences should be part of building your career, not the wind down. I am grateful for this chance...although it has not been always easy, I've learned a lot about myself.

Not sorry that you're not missing the snow! I do love being hunkered down for a good blizzard (ha, the only time I'd ever use the word "hunkered."  Well, unless I were single and it was about a guy...Wink).  Your visit is coming to an end quickly! Or, so it seems online.  Do you get the chance to do fun extended trips like this often?

People in Boston told me I am missing the snow...missing is not the word I would use....it snows for part of most days here but doesn't seem to pile up or last. Karla - denial is more than a river in Egypt...I used to think it mattered if people accepted reality about loved ones dying, but I no longer do. I think everyone has to deal in their own ways. And you are almost always surprised, no matter how prepared you think you are. Jean - sorry it isn't snowing on you. FSN - sorry it is snowing on you. Gymrat - really glad it isn't snowing on you...I had a most annoying work day, but I did fit in a quick gym visit 15 minut run, lifting for shoulders, bid, tris. Then went out to dinner with the woman I went to Zakopane with. She is leaving Poland tomorrow...I will be home three weeks from today...have good weekend all...

Well, I would say it's probably something that's been going on for a little over a year with varying degrees of severity. So yeah, I think this will definitely solve some things.

Sorry to hear about the BIL problem in addition to having to deal w/ your FIL. It sounds like he is dealing w/ what you're saying--making amends and refusing to admit that he might not be able to.  As beligerent as he sounds, it might be a good thing for him to feel like he's doing what he can.  Too bad you can't get family counseling (or I'm just assuming he wouldn't be into it).

Have you thought of getting yoga DVDs?  I had bought some CardioFusion yoga DVDs before.  I did some of the 10 minute ones and they were pretty good, but keep in mind I know nothing about yoga.  The people who do it have a big high end yoga studio in NYC.  You can buy it on their site but I found it much cheaper on Amazon.

BTW, I love donut holes. I can eat just one and be happy.  Maybe it's because they're not that good to begin with when you get Dunkin Donuts.  I have had great restaurant ones, lemon meyer glaze which were amazing. But, then again 2-3 small bite sized ones were enough for me.  I'm just getting old.
