Falling into Thursday

It's so beautiful out today! i love fall.  It's my lead up to ski season.  LOL, I had a client yesterday who asked me what I do to stay so fit and trim.  Ummm, parkour, aerial silks, running, obstacle course training, zumba, rowing, step... An eclectic list.  I still have my membership to my new gym that I don't go to and am still on the fence whether I should keep it up. It's only $28/month and it would cost me a lot more to rejoin if I decided to.  And, the few times I go, I always run into people I know from my old gym so that's fun.  I did finally buy an unlimited pass to the parkour gym but it's a hike. And, I do have access to five fitness facilities, in addition to the outdoors.

Anyway. first world problems. I'm teaching step this morning.  I'm also thinking of changing the format to a sports conditioning class. The ladies are great steppers and it really keeps me sharp to be able to teach it but it's not doing them good.  They need to shake things up and it takes a lot less time to do boot camp. But. I hate losing the ability to teach a choreographed class.

Hello everyone!

Welcome back GW. Fresh, Jean, how are you feeling about your away-from-home kids? Are you getting more comfortable with them being gone?

We waited so long to sign up for the Warrior Dash that we had to take an afternoon wave. I guess since we have a couple of hours to drive it probably is for the best. And just in case it is cold, we might be happy we are in the afternoon since there is definitely mud and water involved. I noticed one of the obstacles is a deep water swim and I am totally not looking forward to that. lol I hope it is at the end so I don't have to finish 3 miles in sopping wet shoes and underwear. I'm trying to figure out what to wear now. Jean, when you did an obstacle race-did you take gloves for the ropes?

I did Insanity last night and I am liking it more and more.

Hubby and I have a dinner date with friends tonight so I don't know if I will have time to workout.

I'm still sad about my son being gone but I think it's more sadness about how quickly time flies. I'm sounding like an old person!  We were saying the first 18 years of your life goes so slowly. The next 30 flip by and I've heard the next 30 exponentially fast so I've been trying to appreciate time more.  We decided the midpoint of your life is 18 because everythng after that just goes so quickly.

I have't done an obstacle race yet. My first one will be a couple of weeks and I'm not bringing gloves. It actually never occured to me. I have enough callouses that I don't think anything will bother me but I'm not doing a serious race. I think some have monkey bars, some cargo nets but I haven't seen a rope climb. As that goes, use your legs more, arms less. It really is more technique than power.

I'm still at home resting.  No workouts... just trying to get little things done while also resting.  :)

I am not too worried about most of the obstacles but I saw some pics of people with gloves on so I wondered if I would need them. It has been such a long time since I have done anything like this that I am really excited about it.

I was just talking to my son the other day about how quickly life passes once you get to a certain point. He can't believe he is closer to 30 than 20 and I told him wait until he can count the days until he is 50. My mother is 77 and she said she blinked one day and all her kids were grown and she was an old lady. lol

" just trying to get little things done while also resting."

The story of my life.  Trying to get through life and maximize couch time.  Maybe I need a bumper sticker that says that.

I've heard my parents, in-laws talk about how fast life goes but always put it off as old people rambling. I guess I'm there now!

Welcome back GR! We missed you. Karla, the run sounds challenging with gloves, mud, and ropes! Jean, it's awesome how you are so active with activities. I remain in the gym. I drove over an hour to the out of town gym while I wait for our floors to be done. I did a ballet-body class that was fun since it's been years since I took a ballet class! I am sure I will be sore tomorrow. :(. As for adjustments, my daughter is already coming home this weekend. She has an "interview" downtown, and then will visit with us, so it's really not much of an adjustment, although our house stays cleaner without her! Actually, the thought of moving to take care of my mom and be in the same city as daughter's college (and possibly stepson), It will be very little adjustment, although I insisted to dh that neither child is allowed to live with us while in college. I am not living on campus, and I do NOT want to continue to clean up after the children! I want to be DONE with them. I think it's important for them to grow up away from us!
