Finally Friday

Hi Girls,

Well it is finally Friday. I know some of us are having a tough week so hopefully the weekend will be relaxing. Granddaughter had a team level evaluation yesterday and they determined that mentally she is more like a three year old (YAY-she's almost two) and physically she is finally "on the charts" and is in the 8th percentile for height and weight. She's still tiny but packs a mean punch. lol She was fitted for leg braces  so hopefully we'll get her up and walking in the next few months. We aren't sure how the leg situation is going to play out in the end, so for now we are just taking things as is and going with the flow. She's bright and can use her upper body quite well so it's not all bad news at all.

The weather is supposed to turn really ugly over the next few days so I'll probably hit the gym later if I get a chance. I have an Access project and a paper due so I'll spend most of my weekend indoor anyways.

Seems like a homemade soup kind of night here.

I'm here and I still exist!  I figured out yesterday that if I make my browser full screen, I can see everything as intended.  If my browser is reduced at all, I get the mobile version which as we know, is lacking functionality.  I missed you guys this week!

My cleaning lady quit on Wednesday so since I had a couple of cancellations yesterday morning, I decided to clean the house.  I realized that if I cleaned houses for a living, I think I could eat whatever I want.  :D  It was about 4 hours straight with maybe 20 minutes total of breaks and if you believe my heart rate monitor, I burned about 2000 calories.  :P

Her quitting is kind of a blessing in disguise.  She did a fine job but was quite flaky.  She agreed to learn how to do the kitty's shots but then kept flaking about that.  I still think this is our best idea for our cat - someone he will see on a regular basis and who comes over for reasons other than to give him meds.  So, I've posted a new job and have a couple of promising candidates so far.  I'm hoping to meet one of them soon.  This time, I've advertised for a cleaning person/kitty helper/house sitter.  Fingers crossed.

I've only got one client today.  Thinking I may skip the workout as my body just feels tired from yesterday.  DH and I have a hot Walmart date this afternoon.  It sounds weird, but we really enjoy shopping together.  There's a store on the way home from a client's so I almost always go by myself anymore.

Breakfast: yogurt or protein shake

Lunch: frozen yogurt

Rest of the day: ??

YES, thank goodness it IS Friday!  I seem to have become a complete yoga person.  :O  I think I need to add some cardio in, so I am hoping to do spin tomorrow.  Work today, yoga tonight, pick up dd from bus.  If all goes well, I am thinking about taking her to a party from my gym - the younger women from the gym invited me to a dinner/cocktail/purse party.  Perhaps this will show dd that I can just go to a "function" where I do not know anyone, and just make friends, since she is having a very difficult time doing this in college.

Karla,  there must be so much relief for you and your family to know that your granddaughter is so healthy, cognitively.  Although the road ahead is still not easy, it sounds like you can exhale a sigh of relief?

Gymrat, we missed you...glad you are back.  Good for you on the cleaning person front - not only did you get in a good workout, but you will find someone that will be better suited to what you need.  Also, are you completely recoverred now on your energy level?

I have been doing so much dog stuff of late...it not only helps me "get out of the house", it helps my dogtrainer get business - my pup seems to be a dogperson magnet, and I help push those people into signing on for his services - so many dogowners don't train their dogs, and then they blame the dog.  :(  There are so many analogies to being a parent.  I'm POOPED.  I can't wait for SNL tomorrow night.

I do not know if it or isn't a good idea to tell your daughter than post-college, making friends is even harder. :P After moving to AZ, hubby and I remarked often how much harder it was to meet people since we weren't in a college setting anymore. My energy levels seem to have recovered. Thanks for asking.

It's great that you're on top of things w/ your granddaughter. Awesome that she's doing so well and hope she adjusts well to the leg brace.  This is such a glass half full thing; it seems almost like a minor inconvenience, given all that might have happened.

I had a way too full schedule of 8 clients today but it's flu season, maybe, because a couple cancelled early. The frustrating thing is the 6am cancelled last night but I didn't find out about it until this morning as I was leaving. I woke up at 4:30 for nothing. So, it's been frustrating with the last minute cancellations. To top it off, I had made my husband an appointment for a massage tomorrow, a couple of weeks ago, for our anniversary. He asked me about it yesterday, whether he could switch it and today texted me and said he wanted a different massage therapist at another location. The place is booked early, this guy held a spot for you and you're going to cancel last minute on him and leave him with a hole in his schedule that he could have filled???  I'm frustrated because my husband knows what it's like for me to hold a spot for someone, not make plans and then have that person cancel because he can't get his act together and not be the jerk?  Ugh.  I have to hold my tongue and not lay into him about it but I need to tell him how inconsiderate it is.

I've been wiped out lately w/ teaching, odd activities, working, etc. so I'm not sure if I'll work out today.  I was planning on going to zumba but now I might just lie on the couch w/ a glass of wine.

Would you consider not having a cleaning person? I'm still on the fence about it. I had gotten into a good routine, I worked out how much I was saving and was happy with how it was going. But then I picked up the new clients and have been working a lot more and things have gone to heck in a handbasket (ha, I first said something else but decided it wasn't cl of me) and I'm reconsidering.  I do think I'd rather have skating lessons than a cleaning person.

Hello ladies...I miss you all but there are SO MANY issues with the boards that I can almost never get in....

I think becuase I manage software projects for a living that it just annoys the heck out of me that this is going so badly....I hate inefficiency and waste...and I can't stand when people don't pan properly...and this conversion reeks of that....it makes me want to cuss someone out...and the people who respond to complaints are so sweet, like they think there is ANY hope of fixing this in the next year....I see on other boards I frequent that people are moving to Facebook.  I've never done Facebook because it seems too public, and I don't think there are other forums that are as awesome as this one was....but I think I might have to stop trying just for the sake of my blood pressure.

Anyway, I've had a busy week - I managed to work out when I planned and made a trip out of town ad back safely.  I am taking next week off - hoping we do not get a hurricane for the first few days of my vacation - but I am going grocery shopping tomorrow so will stock up on good things to have around to eat in a hurricane.

Hope eveyone has a great weekend!

Glad you finally got on!  It has been frustrating for the people who can't get in and I hope it doesn't keep you all away.  I like the community we've developed here.  Keep checking back!
