Fitness Wish List Tuesday

It is going to warm up here starting today and we are supposed to get close to record rains this week. I have to say that if there ever was a time I needed cold and rain it is now while I am healing from an injury. If it were nicer weather I would probably be doing something stupid like trying to tape my foot/ankle so I could get outside. ;-)

If you could get fitness gifts for Christmas this year, what kind of things would be on your list?

Mine would include:

8lb and new 15 lb dumbells

A good jumprope

A new ball

A couple of UnderArmour Storm hoodies (various colors)

New shoes (just to have an extra pair)

A couple of new headbands

A couple of pairs of Yoga pants

Karla, reading yesterday's journal about your mom - how frustrating!  I'm so sorry.  It's one thing if you're prepared to wait but quite another when it's sprung on you.

I had to go get an allergy shot yesterday so I asked if I could be seen by a doc while I was there.  I didn't see my regular doc because he doesn't work in the same office where I get my shots but it's a really good practice so I was okay with seeing anyone.  I was diagnosed with a sinus infection.  Frown  The "good" news is that I was pretty sure I didn't have a sinus infection because this felt so much different than previous infections.  I think that speaks to the progress made with the magic injections and allergy shots.  I'm on antibiotics again and starting to feel a bit better.  I usually go to OP's on Tuesday but I'm going to stay put and he may come over and visit.  No exercise, obviously but I may work on writing jobs.

It's going to be nearly 80 here today!

80 degrees?!  I can't imagine that as I make these candied nuts, where the sugar is SO HOT!  Karla, I guess if I was going to get some fitness gifts, a few nice yoga outfits would be nice.  I would like to add in weights to my regimine, but a few physical therapists said I should stop.  However, I have noticed that if I consciously pinch my shoulder blades together in the evening, I don't have pain the following day.  I stopped going to the chiropractor because I wasn't getting any longterm pain relief after three weeks of therapy, although one of the cllinicians relieved my TMJ jaw pain!  GR, what are magic injections?  My sleep is way off...last night I woke up at 1 and couldn't get back to sleep until 4:30, so, needless to say, I missed my early morning yoga class.  Last week, I went to sleep at 4.  :O  I may go linedancing tomorrow night, and have a salsa class Thursday night.  I'll go to yoga Friday morning.  Ok, off to deliver my nuts.,  :P

If I hadbeen dreaming of a white Christmas, I would be happy tonight....but instead I am hoping it will warm up and the white stuff will melt. FSN, I made 4 kinds of cookies - gingerbread, linzer torte, macaroons, and chocolate peppermint. Imy cookie secret is that I start with a mix and then add things...I have never made linzer torte cookies before, and I didn't have a round cookie cutter, but at Crate and Barrel I got a really cool set with different cutouts. I used sugar cookie mix and added almond extract...the real recipe calls for making almond flour, but the people eating mine don't know that I cheated. I also made an eggnog cake...like Boston cream pie, but instead of milk in the cake batter and pudding, you use eggnog. Add nutmeg and a little rum, and voila...li put confectionary sugar and nutmeg on top, but you can use whipped cream. And I made pumpkin cranberry bread...I bought cranberries in the fall and I think they are reproducing in my refrigerator..li am taking stuff to work and giving it away...well, a few tastes pass my lips...I want to mark caramels but I have never done it before and I might be too chicken. And I am going to make an eggnog bread pudding on the weekend - one of the guys at the gym loves bread pudding, and I make it for him every few months. I once was sure I was right about something and bet him a million dollars...and was wrong..li am paying my bet in bread pudding....Gymrat, I hope you feel better soon. Karla, my foot is more an annoyance than painful....but I agree with you that the bad weather will help you restrain yourself....I went to the gym tin the snow tonight...I thought DT might text to cancel because sometimes the gym closes early, but not tonight...16 minute bike warmup, lifting for legs...no cardio, I just couldn't make myself swim and running and stairs seem like not a good plan until my foot feels better..l

Oh, I forgot to answer the gift question....my biggest wish is for the gym to offer Pilates at a time I can go.....same with good Zumba...and I would like to run a 12 minute mile consistently...more tangibly, I would like one of those things you wear that track calories and other stuff...and for it to be eay enough to use that I could make it work!

Fresh, I finally broke down and went to the doctor over my sleep problems. I take prescription sleep medication and what a difference it has made in my life. I should have done it years ago.

SJ I.LOVE.EGGNOG. lol An eggnog cake sounds so scrumptious. We are expecting heavy rain over the next few days so I am hoping it washes away all this ugly ice and snow we have.

I finally bought myself a decent bathing suit so maybe I should swim laps while I am waiting for my foot to heal. I go back on Monday to have it looked at again by the podiatrist and he is going to let me know from there what he wants me to do/not do.
