Flu on Friday

Fri, 01-04-2013 - 10:35am

Please, someone tell me about the outside world.  I'm still very, very sick.  I keep thinking the fevers have gone away but then they come back.  Once again, my workouts today will consist of drinking as much fluids as I can and then going to the bathroom.

Tell me about your workouts so I can live vicariously through you all.  :P

Aww Gym, I am so sorry you are this sick. I was just reading an article on the front page of my local paper about how the flu has hit my town really hard. I'm trying to decide what to do about my mother who is terribly sick with what I think may be the flu. My husband was supposed to be off work today but his assistant manager has come down with the flu and can't make it in so he's going in to take her place.

I did an ab ciruit last night then several miles alternating between the eliptical and treadmill. I'm trying to take it easy on my elbow for a few weeks to see if the nerve will start to settle down.

I'm so tired of leftovers I may cook tonight. I haven't decided what yet.

Sorry to hear you're still not well.  I worked all morning, went to a meeting (my first meeting in decades, I could do w/out these) on the new spa resort. It sounds really interesting if we can get in on the ground floor.  I'm headed to aerial silks now--first class since I went away so it's been almost a month. It's going to be a hard class!  I could do parkour instead but need the strength training aspect.

I worked late and I asked the two guys who were still there 'if I don't go to the gym so I can go out for pizza, is that an even swap?'. But I went to the gym...yay me. Ran for 20 minutes...first time since I got here, and then lifted for shoulders, his, and tris. The treadmill levels were different than what I am used to, and there was no distance reading...but I think I was ok from a degree of difficulty standpoint...I will try a different treadmill next time to see if I can get one that tells me distance. I then did stop for pizza on the way home. I've eaten a lot of pizza here....it is one of the few foods. Which is the same here as in the US. Even the eggs are different - the yolks are much more yellow. Even the bread is different. The food is all good, but just odd...in fact, the pizza can be odd. There are pizzas with things like corn and pickles (not together). Anyway,, there is a pizza place near by that I like, and it gives me leftovers for weekend meals. I actually attended conference calls on the tram and in the restaurant, and then called some one I needed to talk to that I didn't connect with during the day. I love meetings ( and I am not being sarcastic - I really love them). I hope everyone feels better soon...I feel like I say that a lot lately....but it is a shame to be sick on the weekend - so get better!

Your comment about food reminded me of something that happened a few years ago...  DH and I went on a cruise to Alaska and as most cruise ships are registered outside the US, things are often done in a European way.  This ship had a pizza bar and it was run like a Subway but with pizza.  DH and I asked for sausage on our pizza. When it arrived, it was covered in cut up hot dogs.  Tongue Out
