I have actually had a great workout week so I'm feeling really good about that. I have also gotten all homework done so I am heading into the weekend with an opportunity to get a little ahead. It feels really good to be ahead!

I'm sitting here in my warm house drinking coffee and cruising the internet and thinking about some of my co-workers and their families sitting in dark homes with no heat and power hoping that any minute their electricity comes back on. My son in law says they are telling people that power will be back on in 10 days and it will be at least that long for some considering the damage some areas have. He and his crew work are working from 6 AM to 11 PM every day as are the rest of the crews. What a nightmare. Thank God it isn't middle of winter. It's cool enough with the thought of no heat.

No big plans for the weekend. Hubby has to work. We have rented War and Rememberance so we are going to start watching that tonight. lol. I'm looking forward to it.

Watching the devastation on tv is a horror...like war?  To me, it is a reminder of how miniscule each of our lives is to the universe.  I am loving the stories of the outpourings of goodwill to strangers, though.

Work today, yoga tonight.  DH and I are going to a Bulls game tomorrow night - YEA.  I think we are in a "box" with his company.  :)  It's nice that they are recognizing him for such hard work. Can I take my camera or will they confiscate it if I try to bring it in?!  I should check on-line.

Life is good.

Karla - This all is a good reminder to practice gratitude...

FSN - Enjoy your game!  You should check to be certain but given that everybody and their grandma has a camera on their phones now, I doubt they're going to be stingy about letting cameras in.

Off today - woo!  Doing a kettle bell workout this morning and then have a dog park date with OP and my friend.

We've had opposite workout weeks. I've been a total slug but we've been dealing with the storm.  It really is more of an excuse because we barely were touched.  I was out of power during the storm and early aftermath so had no idea what was going on elsewhere. What a shock on Wednesday to see what NY, NJ have gone through and are going through.  And, that's the biggest brunt of it because other places are more forgotten but have the blizzards and are out of power.  It's hard to think they're so close to us here and going through an opposite experience.

Some of my colleagues in NY and NJ have lost everything...today has been a day of checking in with people, seeing who has power, etc. We are moving people into other offices to work and making alternate transportation arrangements...it looks like this could take months to clean up....I just heard they canceled the marathon, which I think is the right decision...My passport is at the Polish Consulate, and they are closed until further notice...but I will go to Poland when I go...can't stress about that now.

I had an extra lifting session today - DT showed me exercises for all body parts that I can do with dumbbells - some things we do with machines or cables but I want to know a dumbbell option. He says he will write out a routine for me with the weight to use before I go - I know he means this, but I also know he might not actually do it...I want to be able to make up good options for myself...I also swam 120 laps - an hour. I do not know if I will have the option to swim there, so I am storing up the swimming experience. It is so much easier for me to swim than to run or even bike...I know swimming is supposed to burn a lot of calories, but it seems too easy...I love that feeling of flyimg through the water....my goal was to swim every day this week, and although I didn't swim on Sunday or Monday, if I swim tomorrow, I am declaring victory...

A wonderful resource is exrx.net. They catalog exercises by body part and most of them have videos so you can see the movement. Might be a good resource for you if DT isn't able to come through with a program.

I've been following exrx for years and really like it. Another new one I've found is askthetrainer.com. They have great cues on proper form and good basic exercises.
