Frosty Freezing Frigid Friday

Omgosh, just when you think it can't get any colder-it does. -11 degrees when I got up this morning. I have no clue what the wind chill is but we are expecting heavy snow tonight with possible white out conditions. I know, I know,  I need to chill on all this weather talk. ;-)

I have potato soup on and I am going to try to get to the gym tonight to run a few miles on the tread. I think I'll make some muffins because I need some warm comfort food badly.

I have absolutely no plans for the weekend because I have no idea if I will be able to get out or not. I guess I will sit by the fire and read for the next few days.

Anyone else have exciting plans?

Karla, you're given me flashbacks to a really terrible blizzard in the 80's in the Midwest.  Stay warm girl!

I worked this morning and also did strength training.  I'm going out shortly to get my "collection" of injections and then I'm getting a pedicure.  After that, I'm headed over to OP's to color his hair.  I do henna on him so it's a rather involved process.  DH is meeting me over there and we're going to hang out for the evening.

lol I tried henna once. Never again! I had no idea what a mess it could make.

Good luck!

Eegads!  I do not want to go home, she says with a boo-boo lip as the sun rays peek through the clouds amidst the sound of the crashing waves along the shoreline of the ocean.  Although I had the entire day planned out, DH came down with an allergic reaction to something such that we spent most of the day finding healthcare and meds for him.  He is opting out of our second dance lesson tonight, so I may  go solo. i have a feeling the rest of the vacation will be spent laying around doing nothing, something that my husband rarely does.  Aaaaahhhh...I could get used to this!

Enjoying pretending I am listening to the sound of crashing waves, thanks for that nice image!    A crazy thing happened today, all because of you fabulous ladies.   Last night , having been doing Pilates for maybe 4 days now, I decided to just let my back slowly fall forward and gradually (and I am so stiff normally, that this takes several minutes), I patiently let gravity take over and with a gentle bend of the knees, touched the floor.  Wanting even more stretch, I grabbed the back of my ankles and pulled a little more.  Then I came up slowly,  channeling my inner Yoga master, took a couple of deep breaths and did it again, and again. That simple.  But I tell you, I haven't slept so well as I did last night (and was able to sleep on my back) since forever.  Today, I woke up feeling different, so fabulous, and limber, and energized.   I walked taller all day.  My body is still remembering whatever benefits that stretch afforded me.  Boring story but the upshot is that you ladies, you all inspire me though it's been a short time on the board for me.  The change in my body is because I felt compelled to really try to push myself and report back to you.  I forget just how the overall stiffness in my body affects my whole disposition, my day, my sleep, my energy, my subconscious, especially in the morning, but even now, at 5:30 PM on a Friday evening.  14 degrees here, Chinese for dinner.  Not super healthy, but Sometimes simplicity, and portion control, wins.  Cheers to you all.  I feel happy.

This cold is making me crazy! I feel like I'll never be warm inside again.  I'm such a wimp.  After two wonderfully lazy days on the couch, I finally got moving and went to parkour and then climbed the silks and fooled around a little. I haven't done it since I dislocated my finger a couple of months ago. Surprisingly, it wasn't hard but I am 10 lbs lighter and that makes a huge difference.  I did a private pilates/yoga session w/ my daughter this evening. I don't know if you all remember how I was having so much trouble w/ her a few months ago but there's been a huge turn around.  She's so much chattier these days and we're much closer. I don't know if it's because we got the puppy or just a coincidence in time.  I'll be off for the weekend, skiing of course.  I'm really excited w/ how my skiing is feeling this year.  I've gotten so many compliments, it's going to my head!

Karla, potato soup and muffins sound so good!  I made home made rolls for the women ski pot luck tomorrow.  GR, you color hair? Does henna work well? My daughter wants to try it but I told her it doesn't work on black hair.  FSn, enjoy your trip!  I'll bet your nice and warm!  Cath, how are you liking pilates? Is it reformer or mat based?  I just started using the reformer and really like it. Much more than I thought I would.

Jean, it is simply me on my living room carpet.  Mat-based at home.  What kind of puppy do you have?

It is sooooo cold....I want todo nightingale this weekend but lie on the couch and watch basketball...but I will go tozomba and swim, and maybe get a mani pedi...I used Togo every week, but somehow lately I don't seem to have time....I have been busy this year doing a lot of challenging to me things...I am proud of myself but I also feel out of my routine. FSN, yay for Florida. Gymrat, you have an amazing array of talents. Jean, I am glad your daughter is having fun with you. Cath, isn't it amazing how each small change encourages you for the next change? Karla, enjoy the books and the fire. I went to the gym today...8 minuteson bike, lifting for shoulders, bis, tris, abs. I should have run, but I didn't...have good weekends everyone!

There are a thousand ways to mix henna and yes, it is usually a mess!  OP made a different mix this time (he mixes it, I just glop it on his head) and it was much smoother.  The henna itself was super fine which means it didn't clump when he mixed it with water and tea.  When we do it, it usually looks like we're fixing to dispose of a body.  Very little mess last night though!

The caveat with henna is that you cannot (supposedly - according to the internet) color over it.  You have to grow it out.  I've been tempted but the thought of having to keep a hair color until it grew out was unacceptable to me.  Jean, I would guess it wouldn't work on black hair?  But your daughter could always do some auburn highlights (she'd have to bleach first).  I'll bet that would be  really pretty contrast.  I always wanted black hair.   Wink

Cath, that is super awesome about your stretch!  Keep up that flexibility!  Smile

LOL, when I first started coloring my own hair, I'd find drops of red/brown everywhere in the bathroom. I'm not good at it.  My daughter wants ombre hair but we don't want the bleaching.  She'll have to live w/ straight jet black thick hair that she's constantly complimented on--tough life.

I love the autocorrect (or is it voice recognition?).  I love to nightingale on the weekends, too.
