Getting ready to go Thursday

I leave for my week long ski trip tomorrow!  So excited but I have too much to do for Christmas still. What I don't want is to get back and have only a few days to finish. I won't be around here, either so have happy holidays!  I'm teaching sports conditioning this morning.  Bleah, my life these days is planned around puppy walking!  I haven't, knock wood, had problems w/ her wetting the floor but both my daughter and husband have. I don't think they get that housebreaking is more about training the owner than the puppy!

Sounds interesting. I've been looking for a new book. I love my kindle!  I didn't realize how much I would but it was great during the power outage. As long as I can read, I"m happy!

If the weather stays like this, it is going to be a loooong winter....it is cold here, with weekend snow predicted. I plan to ake cookies, but I would like to go to the grocery store first...but I probably don't need to. Jean, skiing should be fun...hope people walk the puppy while you are away. Karla, at. Least this is a good time of year to not run...too busy, too snowy, too cold. Gymrat, the pay in cash thing sounds like a tax dodge to me. I know the rates can be better at Internet banks but I guess i like to visit my money. I need to be able to walk in somewhere and talk face to face...I use the ATM and online banking, I just like the human option. FSN, I find your boundary discussions interesting. Because I live alone, I don't experience boundary violations much. And I always see the blended family issue from the child's point of view...that you have to be in a family with people very different from you who you don't have shared memories with. My step mother was awesome, but we never lived with her, and only visited for a few days a few times a year..land always behaved. It is very much harder to deal with your parents divorce than you might think. Even with all the great things in my life, I still feel. 'cheated' that I had a mother and a father, but not parents for most of my life. the past can never be changed, and I am happy for my half brother and sister, but I still feel a sense of loss that I grew up in a house without my father...and my father was a good father who came to visit twice a week, helped with homework, put us to bed, left the check on the table, didn't criticize my mother....and my mother pulled herself together and demonstrated strength and grace....just trying to share a point of view....I went to the gym, 15 minutes in bike, lifted for legs, foam rolled and then did abs...stay bundled up!

Whew, lots of good wisdom packed in your post.  It's supposed to be 8 degrees at Stratton when we're there on Saturday.  I was freezing cold today and it was in the high 20's.  It's free skiing so if I'm miserable, I'd be happy to sit in the lodge and have hot chocolate/coffee while others ski.  Nah, I wouldn't. Tongue Out  I'd suck it up.  Yes, we have a dog walker coming in midday.  She's four months and can go at least six hours w/out going but I'm having someone come in at the four hour mark and my daughter will be home four hours later.  I've told the dog walkers that if they find it's not enough, to go ahead and add another day.  On Tuesday night, my son will be back from school so he'll have do sitting privileges.

There are such challenges w/ families and extended families.  I do think it's important to consider the child and what his/her perspective of the whole situation is.  They're the ones thrust into an unwanted situation and suffer the consequences.  That's one reason I feel bad for my sister's stepdaughter.  She has issues stemming from all this, anxieties, etc. because her parents, unfortunately, aren't dealing w/ it well.  It sounds like, as divorce situations go, yours went as well as possible and there is still so much a child goes.
