Getting ready for the holidays Tuesday

I'd been thinking we'd go to CA for Christmas but my husband never got back to me on vacation dates and now flights are $700 per person so I have to make other plans.  The kids have a long break this year so we could stay here and do a trip after the holiday.  Ugh, I can't decide. I'm not sure what I'll do for a workout today. Maybe it'll just be zumba because I don't want to be creative and put something else together.  I still have my new gym membership and keep forgetting to cancel it. Maybe I'll go there but I always feels so lost--it's HUGE!

We are starting to amp up for the holidays too.  We're once again hosting our Thanksgiving Orphan dinner...  my parents are flying out and a good portion of our friends will be here.

I've got a magic injection appointment this morning and then a laser appointment.  I'm working on a food piece that I'd like to get finished soon.  Doing cardio this morning...  I'm thinking step.  We'll see how my lungs do.

The Thanksgiving dinner rush has hit me. I have so much to do with dusting, polishing, dragging out and ironing table cloths, etc. This is mine and hubby's 30th Thanksgiving dinner together and we usually do quite a production.

We got a light dusting of snow this morning and it is really cold out. It's a rest day for me as far as exercise and I am going to spend the day making lists of things I need to get done.

Gym, my sister is going through such a bad spell with her allergies too so I can really sympathize with you. It has taken over her life! I have told her about your treatments and she has appointment with doc today to discuss anything new.

I so want to nap!  I was out the door early this morning for a meeting.  I would really like to take a nap, but I have to prep for work with my manager for the next two days.  :(. I've decided to talk to him directly, in a professional manner, so we shall see how far it gets me.  I am tired of being treated so badly.  I can't believe how sore I am from yoga.  When I go a few days between workouts, I find that I go deeper into the poses, and, apparently, work out my muscles intensely (because it defers good at the time.). Tomorrow, after work, if I am not too tired from work, I have my Viennese waltz class.  :). We shall see.  GR, how name the shots going?  Jean, do you like not having the dance ecital rush?  I am so used to you going through that this time of year.  Karla, how do you like running in this frigid weather?

Fresh, funny you should ask. I think the personal challenge of doing this has me really motivated right now. I am supposed to meet up to run 5 miles in the morning and it may be just 19 degrees. I went out the other morning at 25 degrees and was fine so I am thinking I can add a tshirt if I need to and be fine. I may not really need another shirt.  If I was fine at 25 degrees, is the temp change enough that I need another layer?  I can't decide. Hopefully the actual temp tomorrow morning will be closer to what I am already familiar with.

Sheesh-that is what I get for saying that it doesn't usually get much colder than the 20s around here. Watch this turn out to be our coldest winter in decades. lol

It is freezing here too. We had snow this morning but it was done before I left my house. Karla, I lovec the picture of you and your son. Military families are carrying a tough load. I am a lucky holiday person. I send flowers to the hosting family, show up, and praise everything. No one expects me to cook...I have been a slacker for a few days. I've had a cold whichmakesme like lying on the couch. I'vedone what I had to, butnotmuch else. But tonight I lifted for chest and back, then ran two miles, so I guess iam back on some track.

Glad you're feeling better!  I don't think you were a slacker--you were smart.

SJ, I love Thanksgiving but anymore I think it would be so much easier to show up at someone else's house with compliments. I didn't mind all the hoopla years ago when I did nothing  but stay home with the kids but I am so busy these days that it is a major undertaking to host this event.

I end up hosting my inlaws too often, too, and there are like 30 of them!  There are only two of us who host family events and it's a huge ordeal/expense, even though it's potluck. There's a world of difference between providing all the meats/drinks/desserts and bringing a green bean casserole. The others always have excuses on why they can't host but they're just excuses.  They host personal events like children's birthday parties.

Oh yeah, add the expense to all the work and I get why big traditional Thanksgiving dinners are a thing of the past for most people. I will spend a couple hundred dollars at least and that is still with everyone else bringing a side dish or desert.

Then there is the cleanup...ugg...lol

Ugh.  The cleaning required for company, alone, is a deterrent to have family over.  Lol.  BUT, you are making lasting memories of traditions for everyone involved.  The love for family is evident of the family that hosts!  I always appreciate it!
