Giving thanks on Thursday

Gosh things have been rough in my world lately. Tuesday afternoon I received a horrible phone call my mine and hubby's dear lifelong friend. His 25 year old daughter, and only child who we helped raise because her mother abandoned her when she was 3 weeks old, died in a tragic accident. She was pregnant with her third child and she had slipped while in the shower, hit her head and drowned. Her father was the one that found her. He had droppped by to see how she was doing when he saw the baby wandering around the house by himself. He let himself in and heard water running, went to the bathroom door to see water all over the place, went in and found her face down in the water. She left behind two little boys. My mind can't wrap around the whole horrible nightmare. We were the first people he called the moment she was born and the first he called when he found her dead. My own children grew up with her and we are all struggling with what happened.

I don't know our friend is going to live through this. His daughter and her family were his entire world. My kids all came over last night and we all just sat together and were so thankful we have each other.

I'll be spending the next few days at the funeral home trying to find a way to understand why things like this happen. So very sad.

Wow, Karla, what a shock for all of you. It's such a tragedy for everyone.  You've already got so much on your plate but I'll bet her father is relieved to have you and your husband's support.

That makes everything I was going to post seem so trivial.  I was feeling kind of stressed because I'm out straight today, teaching step, a couple of clients, silks lessons, conditioning class but now I'm just thankful that's all I have on my plate.  Your title says it all, just be thankful.

Oh, Karla, you are truly an angel in so many people's lives. You are always the one to be strong, go forward, and make a positive difference in this world. Everyone around you is lucky to have you in their life. How tragic. That poor, poor man. He IS so lucky to have you. Your post is a constant reminder to smile about something each and every day. No one knows when their time is "up", so we have to make the best of it. This is a reminder to all of us on what kind of legacy we want to leave in this world. I am sending my prayers, positive thoughts, and well wishes to you and everyone around you. :(. {{{hugs}}}

Oops. Your post was so overwhelming, I forgot to list my day. Happy Valentine's Day. I hope everyone reaches out to someone they care for today. I have work, followed by three cavities/fillings being redone. The silver has cracked and I am in need of so much dental work. I also need to buy my tickets to Florida. Dd asked if we should wait to take the trip in the summer so that dh and dss could go, and my response was, "sometimes if you wait, it never happens." We are going. Tomorrow, I am going to visit my mom and daughter. I have cards and presents for them, as well. I am just barely holding my head above and meditation are my savior at the moment.

Oh Karla, I'm so sorry.  That is so, so tragic.  I'm sorry you've got so much on your plate right now.  I'll continue to say what I've been saying...  remember to carve some time out for yourself.  *hugs*

FSN, I think it's great that you are planning your trip.  And you are absolutely right...  things may not happen at all if you wait.

Jean, enjoy your busy day.

I got to go see Pink last night with my girlfriend.  What an amazing show.  Jean, with your interest in silks and aerials, I think you would really enjoy it.  She does silks and cirque-du-soleil acts throughout the show WHILE singing.  It was incredible.  And being in a corporate box was awesome.  I felt very spoiled and it was a lovely end to a rather frustrating day.

I've got my ENT consult this morning followed by one client and then a little shopping.  I was planning to work out this afternoon but I woke up earlier than intended and the thought of getting that done and just chilling this afternoon was tempting so I got up.  I'm running short on sleep so even if I don't nap this afternoon, it will be nice to just hang out.

No idea on food.  My tummy is so very unhappy with all of the antibiotics and prednisone.  And it's so hard to eat healthy when I feel like that because nothing sounds good except random unhealthy things...
