Stealing Karla's title. We must have gotten her weather because it's miserable out right now.  I'm going to kickboxing this morning, at my new gym. So far, they've been responsive to feedback which is good.  The problem w/ the schedule s that mostly there is Zumba, spinning, Les MIlls Body stuff, mind/body and then "power hour."  Power hour isn't a class--it's just stations set up around the room. I don't need someone to do that for me.  So, this kickboxing is a good addition. The problem is I'm not sure what they'd offer that I'd want to do. After 20 some years, I could be "gym classed" out.

I don't know if I mentioned this but I pulled something in my right side a few weeks ago. It's since moved to a spot on my back (yeah, strains don't move) and silks really aggravates it. I'm not sure if I need a massage or what.

I have two advice clients today and am doing quick change for Nutcracker rehearsal. Quick change is craziness that I've tried to avoid. Some girls come off the stage and only have a few minutes to change to their other part so there is a dedicated mom to help her change quickly, costume, hair, make up. I'm so good at all of that stuff...not. And, I'm terrible under pressure.  I'm sure I'll be sweating up a storm trying to get it right.

Jean - In case you've forgotten this, it is totally okay to be just a gym member and not work there.  Smile  Good luck on being the quick change mom.  That sounds terribly stressful but good for you for helping out.

I can't believe next week is Thanksgiving.  I'm trying to get all of my ducks in a row with our potluck.  I think it's going to be lots of fun but it's a wee bit stressful getting it all organized.  It will be mostly my friends and a few "adults". Laughing

I'm doing cardio this morning and I've got one client.  We're having dinner with friends tonight so I'm looking forward to that.

Breakfast: oatmeal

Snack: yogurt something

Lunch: turkey sandwich

Snack: ?

Dinner: salad, cocktail, maybe dessert

Jean, you truly ARE the energizer bunny.  Your persistence to doing positive things is phenomenal.  Gymrat, you are so perceptive and always point out something so relevant and helpful.  SJ, I am so glad you are on this board - I love to hear about your life and where it takes you...it is so different from my own...exciting to be traveling and so successful in what you do.  And Karla, your forward progress with your classes and your positive outlook with regards to life really brings me "up."  Thank you, everyone.  :D

My lawyer is in court today, I hope.  I sent her a late email last night, bringing her up to date.  I did early morning yoga, have lots of work today, and then I reallly should clean up this house, but I would rather do something fun.  I went to a "decorate your home" class at a store this weekend, and I picked up some great ideas for the holidays.

At a doctor's work appointment, we had a great conversation about life and aging.  I didn't realize that stress is related to cancer.  According to this doc, your risk of cancer is higher the more stressed out you are.  :O  This conversation was right after a discussion I had with a friend about how I can FEEL endorphins kick in (i.e., reduced stress) when I am with my dog, doing yoga, working out, etc.  The more I know, the less I know...such interesting discussions.  This is one reason why I love my job -- at times, it's like I get paid to be at a dinner party...snippets of time have interesting conversations about life with many different types of people.  :D

Off to work...

Haha, when I was at the gym today, I checked out some of the equipment. I have to say I'm very impressed with the array of new and different equipment, the lifting machines are functional, have upper and body movement. I was thinking of how much fun it would be to train w/ that much equipment. One limiting thing about where I train is that it's a small corporate facility. When you train the same person three times a week, months on end, it's hard to be creative all the time.  At a place w/ that assortment, I would never run out of ideas!  It crossed my mind to see if I could train there but they're all super young and super motivated and I'm just too old to care about making a living doing it.

Have you been looking for new clients to replace the ones you've lost?  I thought of you the other day. I have a client couple who are snow birds and they go to Arizona and Nevada. I was going to recommend you if you were near them but it turns out their house is in Nevada and they pop over to Arizona on rare occasion.  I should find out where you are, just in case I have other clients who do that. They have houses everywhere.

Hmmm, it seems like a sign that you're considering either taking care of the house or doing something fun for yourself, right after hearing about stress and cancer.  I vote for the fun.  I had a calligraphy instructor say, for calligraphy and appropriate for life, if you have to choose between the joy and the discipline, choose the joy.

And thank you for your contributions as well! You often remind me to slow down and be where I am. And actually, I will extend this to all of you. Who knows if our paths would have ever crossed IRL but it's neat that we have a bond here. :)

I haven't looked that much yet. I sent an email to existing clients with the promise of free sessions if they refer someone who buys. I probably won't be all that aggressive until after the holidays. I sent you a message on FB with my location/zip code. Thanks for thinking about me! Also, I totally hear you about equipment and ideas. I am limited to what I can fit in my car, gymbag and what clients are willing to keep at their homes. I'm always on the prowl for new ideas. It is one of the reasons I maintain my Oxygen subscription even though I think it's a stupid magazine.

The cold and wet reached here today. I can tell that Florida and retirement are soon in my future because I am miserable at the dark, cold damp days...FSN - thanks for your kind words..I love the chance we have here to meet women like and not like us, and the chance to share and get advice and support from different perspectives. I am sometimes not good with people in person, but I feel comfortable here. I went to the gym tonight -15 minutes bike warmup, lifting for legs, abs. Still no cardio...I love the guys at my gym...they are always so helpful and supportive about injuries...I trust them more than doctors....tonight there was much discussion of my AB pain....they make me feel cared about...of course, there answer is usually take 800 milligrams of ibu, put ice on it, and keep working out...but they are so caring in saying it...

OH, and I forgot to say...my mother always said 'if your work interferes with your play, by all meansgive up your work'.  I have a much higher tolerance for mess than she ever had, and she claimed that my answer was always 'I can do that later' and it is probably only her high standards that keep my house in marginal shape.  When I am feeling like doing nothing, I tell myself I'll pick up 10 (or some other number) of things, and thensod something fun.  A few rounds of that usually gets me back to some degree of order...

LOL! I can live with that advice. ;-)

I am just now getting here today. My sister in law and her nutcase of a husband dropped in today with no warning. They live 6 hours from here. How do people who live that far away just drop in??? He is one of those people that knows everything. You can't get a word in edge wise when he is in the room. We all try to be polite but as he dribbles on for 30 minutes about the world's polarization turning upside down it's hard to keep your mind from wondering what would happen if you threw a lamp at him. I am so happy they decided to stay in a motel.

I didn't get to the gym today so that's why I'm kind of grouchy. That and my throat is getting scratchier and sore by the minute.

Uninvited rude guests + no gym + scratchy throat = day in bed. Hope you feel better.
