It's Thursday!

Whew, the days are so mixed up between cancellations and skiing. I finally taught my class today--it's been cancelled and there have been vacations. We did a lot of boot camp type drills.  This class is hard to keep because it ties up my schedule and not many people come but I love the women in the class so I keep it.  At some point, the studio will probably cancel the fitness because it's a money loss but I'm happy to do it as long as they do.  I'll be off tomorrow to ski the new few days.  Or teach since it's supposed to be busy and I'm on the schedule.

sorry i have not been around here much, happy Thursday, all.  Happy birthday, SJ, and hope it was a great one!

I took yesterday off from work to stay at home and just file papers, do taxes, etc etc...so much paper in the house, it irritates me.  But the weather is breaking! It is 26 out there and it feels like summer.  Funny how your body acclimates.

I have to really buckle down and eat like healthy person again because honestly, i can barely fasten my pants.  i have a gelatinous layer of flab all over my midsection and it is depressing me.  I have to up the game with the home pilates regime, as well.

oh well, i am eating a healthy salad wiht oil and vinegar for lunch, so that feels right (but I would prefer a pizza).  I am too attached to food! yesterday we got subs for lunch and my dog stole half of mine, right off of the kitchen island when we all walked out of the room.  I almost cried and everybody offered me some of theirs.  It was more depressing than it should have been, and later i realized that half was enough anyway!

Cheers-

It is going to get above freezing today and I am so happy. Maybe the ice will melt on my street.

I still can't believe what happened in Atlanta. I got up this morning and read that there are STILL people in their cars on the interstate. I once saw 22 inches of snow shut down the interstates in this area but the national guard went and rescued stranded people. There wasn't thousands of cars out of gas blocking things. I find it some of the most interesting news I have seen in a while. lol

I am going to hit the gym later and jog a few miles. Nothing hard or heavy. I may even just walk. I had weird dreams all night and woke up feeling dizzy this morning. I think it is my sinuses.

For all you dream people out there, interpret this: I decided to go on a walk one day so I set out on foot. My journey took me across strange parking lots of businesses I have seen over the years. At some point in the dream, rather than walking, I started bouncing across the world on a red stability ball that had gold designs on it. My granddaughter was on my back and on her back was a very large water bottle. We stopped at a chinese restaurant to get ice cubes and they tried to pop my ball but it didn't work. So I got back on my ball with my granddaughter on my back and headed out again. I passed by some people listening to a radio and heard Dolly Parton talking about how she had seen me bouncing across the Mississippi River. Then I woke up.

ROFL! Weirdness. How does someone's mind come up with this stuff.

AAAAAAACK.............My back went out.  crazy, this has never happened to me before.  I am sitting here at work in my office, trying to get together a presentation on a trip to Africa i am giving tomorrow, and it just started feeling wrong, out of place somehow on the lower right side. I did nothing wacky with it whatsoever to cause some kind of serious injury.  I haven't even done the pilates for a couple of days.  ANYWAy,  It is a quiet day here today and nobody noticed as a tried to unobtrusively slide down onto the floor and bring up one knee at a time, then i crawled onto all fours for the basic yoga type stretches and then, you guessed it, i could not get back up.  well I had to pull myself up holding onto a chair, and managed to slow---------ly walk sideways over to our fridge where I kept an icepack for my knee (thank God!).  I managed to slither back into my chair and and it feels good to press my back ito the icepack which is a gel-type smushy thing.  Hopefully it will go away.  Any advice?  I swear, I am not usually this help me help me! type.  As a matter of fact, I get annoyed on FB when i see people always complaining about their problems and looking for attention. But, I digress!!!!!!!

I had my back go out like that while I was doing a warrior pose in Insanity class. I couldn't move. My sister stood me up and I spent the rest of the night on the couch. The next day I got up and I felt a little pop and I was back to normal. I have no idea what happened.

Have you tried a heating pad?

Jean, that is so nice that you keep that class for the ladies that participate.  I really appreciate my instructors!  Karla, your dream is crazy wild...perhaps it's about working through all of the issues in your life while you try to protect your granddaughter?  Cath, that is SO HORRIBLE about your back!  I remember waking up, once, not able to move my head because my neck was STUCK.  It took three days before I could look to the right left, and that was after taking muscle relaxers.  :O  Good luck, relax, take a day off...your body is screaming!

I am crazy busy at work, but I made time for an advanced yoga class. It felt so good to work out!  I am trying to remember to rest every other day.  Sunday, I leave for Vegas, my cousin is meeting me for dinner, then, I have four days of crazy busy meetings from 8AM - 8PM every night, and my coworker/girlfriend wants to try to sweep me away one night for a birthday dinner celebration.  :D  I think the HRT has totally worked - I am happy again, motivated to get things done, with a spring in my step.  Why did I wait so long?!  Dumb, dumb, dumb...no, stubborn, stubborn, stubborn.

Cath, I have no specific back advice but my general injury advice is ice and ibuprofen. And time...it seems like you stop noticing one injury when you get the next one. What separates those of us who are crazy enough to hang out on this board from others is that we keep finding ways to keep going, adapt, and start over...Karla, I have a special place in my heart for the National Guard....wow we ask a lot of those men and women and they always come through....my brother's division (before he was the commander) were first responders to the World TradevCenter, then went to Iraq, and under his command, responded to Hurricane Sandy...just a few things on their resume....Jean, I couldn't do a job that required me to be outside in this weather no matter how many layers I could wear...or how high tech the clothes. I have to give myself a pep talk to walk to and from work, and some days I can't inspire me and I call a taxi. I went to the gym tonight - 3 minutes on bike, lifting for shoulders, bis, tris, then abs. I am short on cardio this week. The instructor for Fridy night zumba is TBD which usually means...not at all...and I am having my hair cut/colored on Saturday so no Zumba then. I could run or swim tomorrow...we'll see. And Karla, about that dream...I think it means that even though you have the weight of the world on your shoulders, you are bouncing through life....
