Wow, 2013 already. I just wanted to write the date on something to see it. It seems like last year flew by.

I started the semester off this morning for my homeschooled teens with math tests. They aren't too happy right now as they sit and stare at the papers. We have to start somewhere so it might as well be with a bang.

I've got an appointment with the chiropractor to work on a plan for my elbow today. He adjusted it last Friday and for the first time in months I was able to do biceps and triceps with no pain. I really think I may be able to do this without surgery.

Sooooo many leftovers to eat that I'm not bothering to cook for a few days. ;-)

I hope someone brings cheese because I have plenty of whine...

I woke up pretty sick yesterday.  Fever, aches, and a general longing for sweet sweet death.  :P  I actually called the answering service and had a doc call me back. They were able to get me on the schedule for today which is good.  It is unreal that I am STILL on antibiotics (and I got a flu shot) yet there is grossness coming out of my lungs.  :(  I had a very long chemically induced sleep which was good as I didn't get much sleep yesterday.  I may feel slightly better today.  Maybe.  My active day will include forcing myself to take a shower so I don't scare anyone at the doctor's office, sitting on the doc's table, and most likely sitting in the pharmacy waiting for prescriptions.  If I have to go to the pharmacy, I think I will buy those gummy spearmint leaves.  I think I've earned them.

I hope you all are faring better.  FSN, how are you doing?

Ugh.  Third time is a charm?  I had to sign in twice, and then, it took me to a page where there was no link for the message board.

Karla, somehow,I forgot (or itmissedme) that you also homeschool. Wow.  I think you should have a giant S on your shirt.  :O  Good for you!  That's a lot of work.  Good luck with the chiro and hooray for no pain.

GR, I am so sorry that you are sick again.  YUCK.  I am SLOWLY getting better, but I took another sick day because I am SO LETHARGIC.  I just can't move.

Needlessto say, to no workout for me.  I think I'll get some reading in, start on a scrapbook for my mom,and take a nap.The only good think is I may have a lost a few pounds which takes me back to where I WAS.  My appetite is returning, though, so Ihave to be careful.

I'm having problems w/ sign ins, too. It's the opposite of sanity but if I do the same thing, repeatedly, I eventually get in.  Glad your elbow is better. Any idea what's causing the problem?

I had some early morning clients, did 7 total today.  I'm very tempted to give up Fridays for now--and seeing how it goes through ski season.  I hate giving up easy money but it might be better for my mental health. I'm not working out today and might start using Wed as a rest day because I don't know how to fit in a workout. I hate the classes at my new gym, and my daughter's dance class is an odd time.  Plus, in this cold weather, all I want to do is sit on the couch!

Sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. Hope the antibiotics take care of it soon.

Oh ick Gym. I wonder if a nebulizer would help you.

Fresh, I've been homeschooling for 19 years. I currently homeschool my youngest and two of her cousins (two 8th graders and a 10th grader).

Jean, to make a long story short, I finally broke down and went to a specialist and they decided my elbow was dislocated causing and impingement on my ulnar nerve. Their solution was surgery to move the nerve. I found the whole thing shocking so got another opinion and have been recommended to chiropractic. So I went back to the health center where I got my back treated and the doc believes he can help me without surgery. First he got my elbow back into alignment which immediately relieved the pain and pinsy/needly feeling somewhat. Now we are working out a long term plan to start healing. I believe it all started with my obession to do pull ups. I can't figure out any other way my elbow could become displaced because I haven't had any falls, accidents, etc.

Happy 2013 everyone. I first want to say how much I appreciate it that you all are hanging in here on the board...this is one of my lifelines here...I find that if after I sign in, if I go back to the Health and Fitness page and come back to the thread, I get the Quick Post option...I am sorry Gymrt and FSN are under the weather, but glad Karla has found some elbow relief. Jean, I think cutting out Fridays is a good plan...money is not everything..unless of ourse you don't have enough...in a shocking note, one of the people we hired here in Krakow who didn't work out - his choice, not ours - died in a shooting accident...the details, most of which are being discussed in Polish are both sketchy and suspicious...but perhaps explain his unhappiness with the job, which we could never really inure out. He actually worked in my department, so I had the awful task of calling our department head, who is still reeling from last week's news, and tell him this...life is very unexplainable sometimes. On a happier note, it was 50 degrees here yesterday and I, and the rest of the population of Krakow, walked along the river. There was some sort of hot air balloon event, and the colorful balloons in the blue sky going by the old buildings was awesome. Back to work, and to the gym today. Twelve minutes on bike, then lifting or legs - squats, lunges, plié squats, leg lift. The hamstring curl machine is the king you. Lie on, and my back objected so I movedon, and the leg press is scarily old, so I passed. I did flor abs on a bench in between sets...it isn't enough, but it is better than nothing...there were a few women wandering around in the with area tonight, so perhaps there are resolvers in Poland too. I think thy needed a trainer to guide them, but my ten words of Pilish won't let me help...everybody try to get or stay healthy!

The more I'm learning about postural analysis and corrective exercise, the more I'm convinced things like that can be worked out w/out surgery.  Have you seen a physical therapist? I find they can pinpoint the discrepancies in our bodies and help with imbalances.  It could be as simple as your biceps being much stronger than your triceps.  Someone who is a corrective exercise specialist might be able to help. I always think the chiropractor takes care of the immediate problem but a specialist could help diagnose why it's happening to help prevent it from occurring.  Glad the chiropractor is helping!

Happy new year!  I'm glad you're hanging in there, too, with the board! Maybe I should try the Quick Reply because signing in repeatedly to post is getting to be a pain. I'm going to see what's happening with my job in the next week, how it goes w/ the skiing and working and decide on the Fridays. I have to stop thinking about it in terms of income lost (which is what I did while I was skiing last month--ugh!).  I don't think I've talked to you all about the big development at work but they've won a contract to develop the fitness program for a really high end resort that's opening up in my area.  It's about 45 mins away from me and I don't have all the details yet but it's possible I could help develop the program which would be exciting.  Apparently the guy in charge really likes me and would like to have me involved, though they know it's not likely I'd want to do it.  I only have vague information on it and am waiting to hear more.
