Just another manic Monday...

It's actually pretty calm here but now I have that song in my head.  I'm tired from parkour/silks/obstacle course training/running so I'm taking it easy w/ zumba today. There are these two women who are incredibly fit who were at obstacle course training. So impressive to watch them outmaneuver the guys.  I'm such a beginner at all this stuff!  I can do any class at the gym, work the hardest but take me out of my comfort zone and all those skills just barely transfer.

I don't know if I told you this last week but I gained 5 pounds overnight from Tuesday to Weds. Weight usually fluctuates but this just decided to stay on and I feel like I have!  I've been eating much better, working out harder and have lost one of the five.  Given that I was at the top of what I normally like to weigh anyway and this is bugging me.  Not only the gain but that I haven't been done different to cause it.  Yikes--is this a perimenopausal thing???  I really don't have other symptoms of it yet.

Our Zumba is usually full before I get to sign up.  Good Luck!

Is it at the gym? That's the way it is at my gym so I don't go. I go to a firehouse where there can squeeze in 200+ people. It gets full but I've never seen them turn people away. I do have to pay per class, though, vs going for free at the gym.

Jean, my first symptom of menopause was night sweats. Then the hot flashes, mood swings, etc. I take HRT now. ;-)

I got out early ahead of the rain today to do some jogging. I jogged two miles at 10.05 minutes first mile and 10:34 for second mile and I am really, really happy with that. The weather was perfect and all the stars and planets were lined up perfectly today because I didn't feel like I was struggling. I really don't like running so I am not sure why I do it other than to challenge myself. lol I plan to get out and walk a few miles later this evening if the radar clears up.

I bought a pair of dri-Fit Nike capris for the race and I think I like them. They are tighter fitting than what I am comfortable being in public wearing, but after getting caught in the rain while out running last week, I have decided my normal capris won't work if I get soaked.

Dbuster,

My gym's turbo-kick class used to be like that. They could only take 100 people and the line to get in wrapped around the entire walking track.

Insanity class is slowly getting more and more crowded and I sure hope it doesn't get to capacity. I'm not sure I would enjoy having to squeeze into a small space with people so close to me.

I kind of miss gym classes but I don't miss having to "claim space."  It's also nice working out at home because I can leave stuff out while I'm still using it and nobody will jump in.

Still no workouts for me.  I've worked on clean-up the last two mornings and have gotten a good sweat doing that.  I still have a cold.  It's very, very slowly getting better.  Normally, I'm in a big rush to get back to my workouts but I'm finding that I'm pretty zen about it now.  When I have the energy to spare, I'll go back to it.  I've realized that it is completely pointless to work out when it leaves me drained for the rest of the things I need to do.

I am slowly but surely getting all my BM clean-up done.  I put about 20 or so photos on FB but if you want the whole album, send me a note and I'll send you a link.  I've got one client today and I've got another writing contract so I need to get going on that.  Also, Jean - that link you sent me a while back...  I got signed up with them (Demand Media Studios) and am going to work on some stuff for them today.  Thanks for that!  Cool

After 25 some years of doing gym classes, I think the parkour mentality has gotten to me about a roomful of people all doing the exact same moves to the beat of the music. Now, when I do it, I feel like laughing.  And, I teach! I was thinking I need to start a Miyagi functional fitness class--come to my house and I'll put you to work and make it harder than it needs to be. Paint the fence! But, hold a kettlebell in the other hand and use your core to make sure you don't move.  Wax my car, but wear a 50 lb backback.

Hope the writing works out! I'd completely forgotten about that.

Gaining weight for no reason...yes! Age/menopause/hormones/thyroid. Yuck! I just found a doctor that works with bio identically, and am going to go see him, but there is a LONG wait to get in to see him. Even if you are within "range", it could be too far away from what you once were in, that you need to be "on point" to get back to "normal." I sometimes feel like I am starving myself just to maintain my weight. I've given up animal meet, caffeine, gluten, much dairy, and significantly reduced sugar intake. YUCK! Plus, not sleeping through the night for the last 10 years is really annoying! I got so busy, I forgot to post. I went to a yoga studio this weekend for hot yoga...YUCK. I sweat SO MUCH, and although the yoga was similar to what my club does (many are the same instructors), I napped for two hours because the heat was too much for me. So I rested today, along with lots of work. Welcome back, gymrat! I loved the link to the newspaper pictures...PHENOMENAL! Looks like fun!

I expect weight gain but overnight? I'm still hoping to avoid the major bad symptoms but am probably just being optimisitc.  OTOH, I've always struggled w/ weight and insomnia so maybe I've just learned to adjust and it won't be so bad!  LOL, one reason I like Bikram yoga is the heat in the room.  I would be happy just to lie there and be warm.

If your weight gain is overnight, could it be some water from salt? Free chips, I seem to blowed up quickly. Also, regarding the heat, you are so lucky. I hope you don't get hot flashes because they are so annoying. I sweat so much and regular yoga, that I get the hot yoga I was miserable.
