Monday after Father's Day

Persistence is key today. Third time is a charm? I don't understand the login process, as it took me three times to login today. Last week I got in the first time each time. C'est la vie. I had a wonderful weekend. How was yours? We went downtown for the color run, and it was so much fun. We even bumped into a couple of my daughters friends from the last town we lived in. Really?! Out of the 15,000 people there, we ran into people we know? We also went out for dinner last night for Father's Day. I was disappointed in the quality of the food. It used to be my favorite restaurant, But I don't know if I would go back now. I think the economy has put a downturn on a lot of businesses. Again, the only constant is change. Overall it was a lovely weekend. I have way too much work this week, so, I think today will be a rest day. Perhaps I'll take the pup on a walk when I return from work. What are you all up to this week?

Fresh, the log in process has problems.

I had a very busy weekend. My sister-in-law dropped in and we had an impromptu cook out at my sister's house yesterday where every member of the family who live in this town dropped in. There were 25 people there. It turned out really good.

My daughter is on rest until further notice for her blood pressure issues. They want to try to get her closer to her due date (July 5) and are not going to intervene unless they absolutely have to. She is big and miserable and ready to get it over with. lol

I'm going to do a weight circuit today and then hope to get to the park to get some outdoor mileage but we are expecting rain off and on so not sure if that will happen. So far we have had near perfect weather this summer. Hot enough to feel like summer but not brutal.

Some kids toilet papered the neighborhood last night so I went out this morning and cleaned up what I could before it rains. Nothing like trying to pick out peices of toilet paper from bushes, etc. after a good rain. lol

I only had a little issue logging in but it wasn't bad.

I had a very indulgent weekend...  we were very naughty.  Friday afternoon, DH played hooky and we went to out to lunch and an art museum.  Saturday, we went to TWO movies and had many cocktails.  Sunday, we went to a gin mixology class with a few friends at a fancypants resort and ended up staying for dinner (which was WONDERFUL).  So, I feel like poo today but I completely deserve it.  Cool

My early morning client cancelled (which is a godsend) but I have one more this afternoon.  I've spent the morning thus far getting chores done and will be doing a strength workout a little later on today.

I've booked a trip to St. Louis in August.  My mom is having surgery on July 10th and will be in the hospital for a week.  It's going to be open heart surgery.  We went back and forth about whether I would be there for the surgery and never really came to a conclusion.  I wanted her to tell me what to do but she refused to make a decision.  So, I told her I'd plan to come visit in the fall when she's feeling better and can do things.  And then I changed my mind and decided I wanted to come in and surprise her for her birthday in early August.  I usually stay with her but I got a hotel room this time which I think will be easier for everyone.  It's going to be hard for me to keep this a secret but I'm going to try.  She's been very emotionally fragile so if she's in a particularly bad way, I might end up telling her to cheer her up.

Aw, Karla, the impromptu cookout sounds wonderful! That is something I miss in that my parents moved far, far away from their families. There is good and bad to every situation. I am praying for your daughter, and hope she has peace, and that the baby is healthy. Gymrat, your weekend sounds wonderful. That is so nice to surprise your mother...and, the hotel will give you a way out if you need/want it. Exhausted today. My allergies are continuing to aggravate my sinuses. Lots of work, last minute conference calls, more work...my daughter got a gig this week, so I will be the chauffer. It will be good to get her out of the house, and will boost her ego. She is moping with her boyfriend out of town and friends working or in school while she slacks. I think, in future summers, I will require her to have a job and pay me rent. We shall see...

I think I am back in my own time zone...I was shimmeringly tired this weekend...but I kept going until last night when the couch was all I could manage. My dad hosts a big cookout on Father's Day - our family and his 'freind's' family...the relationships are funny...I have a brother, a half brother, a half sister, a sister in law, a not quite brother in law and sister in law, and semi step sisters and brothers...and then assorted members of the next generation...my dad has a great time, and it is low fuss. Karla, hope the baby stays put...Gymrat, it must be hard to be so far away from your mom when she has surgery. FSN, I vote yes on the job for your daughter..why would she not get a job? Jean, are you out rowing? I had a great workout - quick bike warmup, lifting for chest, back. Abs,,ran 2.25 miles, sometimes running feels great..not often, but onight it did.

Sorry to hear about your mom but at least she's got an action plan on getting better and all. It'll be a nice surprise for her to see you on her birthday. The hotel is a good idea. We're visiting my parents next week and I'm thinking I should do the same thing.  They have a good size house but they have their routine and I don't want to disrupt it.

I forgot to come here yesterday!  It was my son's hs graduation and then we ran around and did errands while he went to work.   Already the rush, rush, rush, although teaching parkour is a pretty fun job.
