Picking it up Tuesday

I've had such a light work load lately. It's been nice to do nothing.  I went on a run yeterday around this lake next to my house but half of it was closed and I had to backtrack which means doing huge hills twice.  My left calf is feeling it today.  I need to roll it out.  My alignment is so messed up from my right ankle being locked up.  I'm going to take it easy and just do zumba today.  Oh, I signed up for my week long ski instructor week at Killington! I'm so excited to go this year now that I know what to expect.

Oh, that five pounds I put on overnight? I've been working on it and still have't taken it off. Normally if I fluctuate, it's not that much and it comes off pretty quickly. This is frustrating! If someone told me it happened to them, I'd think it wasn't possible!

Hello everyone. I ran a lap around the state park yesterday including hills and was so proud of myself. It was a first for me as I typically walk it. It has been 30 years since I have run that far! I felt really good. My triceps are really sore from a weight circuit I did on Sunday so I am going to take it easy today with light weights and a walk today.

Jean, I am having the opposite problem with my weight. I have lost 5 lbs and can't put it back on. This time it is not from stress, it is from the increased cardio. I am trying to eat a snack before and after my runs but I don't think I am taking in enough calories right now. At 5'10 with a small frame, I am trying to stay at no less than 135 lbs but have dropped to 130. I am thinking I need to track and get in at least 2300 calories a day if I am doing moderate exercise. Does that sound about right?

I ran into the dishwasher and tore my ankle up last night you'd think I sprang it by the looks of it this morning. Hahaha-good thing it doesn't feel like it looks.

You might be better of lifting heavier weights and seeing if you can put on more muscle.  Make sure to refuel if you do.  If not, try higher fat healhty foods like nuts, avocado, olive oil, eggs, salmon, soy, trail mix.  Or, make it easy and go w/ a Luna or Lara type bar that are less processed but still high in calories. It's hard to say how many calories a person needs because it varies so widely.  You have a super duper metabolism!

Hope your ankle feels better soon!

I hate dealing with all of the weight issues. The cleanse is helping me, though, and I find that I am not as famished as I used to be. My weight is also more manageable now, so I have two weeks to go, but I think I will maintain more of this diet forever...or not. So, my girlfriend and I are going to go to the ballroom dance open house next month, and if we like it, we are going to take a Viennese waltz class. I am so excited! I did yoga today, I have lots of work, and I have a massage scheduled this evening. DH Wants us to get the house completely in order, as some executives from his company will be coming over for dinner next month. So, I think he wants me to finish this quilt since we agreed to use it in the guest bedroom. I think he wants to show off the house. :P. At least it gives me a goal finish some of my projects. Carla, good for you on your running progression. It's always wonderful to reach goals. Jean, it sounds like you hit the brick wall that I hit in regards to wait. It's so annoying.

Thinking of household inequities...when your husband wants you two to get the house ready for guests, what percent does he do and what percent do you do? Or is he just telling you to do it?  This is open to everyone, not just fsn.

Shoulders are awful, yeah.  I see a lot of those injuries too.

Karla, congrats on your distance.  I am envious of your metabolism.  Wink  I cannot fathom having the problem of not being able to put weight on.

FSN, I suggested the depression because of my own experiences (I have it) and of a friend.  He started counseling and went on meds only to discover that he thinks he was depressed quite a long time before he realized it.

Jean, enjoy your light work load.  Also, re: your query about putting my articles here... I'd rather not since there is relative anonymity.  But anyone wants to see them, they are on my FB page.  I will probably stop posting them though.  I'm used to being a published writer now.  *flipping hair back* Laughing

I did a strength training workout this morning.  First one in over a month.  Nothing crazy - I kept it basic and fairly easy.  Did 20 minutes on my accupressure mat - 10 minutes on my back and 10 minutes on the lower back.  Going over to OP's today and we're having dinner with the best friend tonight.  I'm going to try to get 2 articles submitted this morning.

I have often wondered if I had a different type metabolism than most. My twin sister and another brother are just like me; we all struggle with our weight. I've been tested twice for hyperthyroidism (and so has my twin) but don't have it.

I hadn't thought of trail mix and I'll have to give the bars a try. I love avocado and tried eating it every day for a week and nothing seemed to happen. All I got from it was a sore tongue. LOL! Currently I am doing two boiled eggs before running. I hope it helps. I was doing a bar with 450 calories but found they have a lot of sugar and they ruined my appetite.

My husband is more work if he tries to help! His version of clean is nothing like mine. He does help with the food however which I am grateful for.

Wow, you're getting a lot of writing articles in!  Congrats on making such a big step! I know what you mean about anonymity. I share so much here and I'm probably easy to find w/ all I post. I might as well just sign my name and address!  Did I tell you how I post on a food board and I'm much more reserved about what I share there but someone once posted my marathon time? It was freaky. Not that someone could find who I was but that someone could be bothered to do it?  Really, get a life.

Interesting question about the depression. The president at my son's school told us symptoms to be aware of for the next few weeks. She said grief is normal but went through depression symptoms.  I've looked them up and don't have them but I think my normal is really upbeat happy so when I'm not all the time, I think there's something wrong. I'm your resident hypochondriac, mental and physical.

I need to be more thankful for my husband. He does housework better than I do--thanks to you taxpayers, bootcamp and the military academy. My friend and husband visited recently and I made the bed but my husband cleaned the bathroom, vacuumed, got the towels and all ready.  When we entertain, he does a majority of the cooking (because it's normally his family!).
