Silent Saturday
Sat, 08-10-2013 - 9:34am
Aaaaahhhhh...peace and quiet on Saturday morning. I am in northern Washington, and I await the massive crowds later today for my niece's wedding. Over 200 people at a berry farm. We have "packed in" so many activities in the three days we have been here...the Seattle space needle, chihuly exhibit, seeing some nisei veterans and internment memorial, shopping at the flagship nordstroms, and a whale excursion. We have three more days to pack in more activities. :). I haven't "found" the time to work out, but perhaps I will do some yoga in my room, since there is no workout facility here. The scenery is spectacular, but I know that winters here are SO gloomy! Karla and Gymrat, I loved being alone last night...dd is so mean at times...since I am closest to her, she can be really curt/mean to me at times, so I simply stopped doing things for her...for now. I believe this is nature's way of making me want to kick her out and away. And Karla, did they catch that creep?! How horrific!

Fresh, what an interesting sounding wedding. Is it outdoors?

They have not caught the creep here yet. The police are thinking maybe it was a drugged out transient. Whatever the case may be, everyone is still on edge.

Today is my birthday and my daughters are taking me out to lunch. Hubby is at work so after lunch I think I am going to treat myself to a new pair of shoes. I'm 49 today and I can't believe it. Next year is the big 5-0 for me.

FSN, if you have time (and like music), the Rock Musuem is really neat. It's also attached to the Sci-Fi museum which is pretty neat too, even if you're a sci-fi geek by proxy as I am.  About the daughter thing...  Mother/daughter relationships are special and I truly believe we are not meant to live together which becomes especially apparent in the later teen years.  This past visit, staying in a hotel TOTALLY changed my mindframe and I had a MUCH better time than I have in years.  For whatever reason, staying with my mom just puts me right back in my 15-year-old mindset and I hate being there.  It's irrational because I have many resources at the age of 37 and she isn't overly clingy when I stay here, but still.  It's kind of like my inner child wakes up and says "Remember?  We hate everything."  LOL.  If I can afford it, I will do hotels from now on.

Karla, happy birthday and enjoy the new shoes!

I got back last night.  Feeling a bit weary but okay.  We're having a painting party today with a few close friends and OP's family.  It was scheduled well before my trip came about but it should be relaxing.

My visit was very nice but I am glad to be home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope you have a happy time. Yes, the wedding a outdoors. I hope the rain stays away. It is very picturesque with mountains in the background. I'm not quite sure how to dress because I was told that this is a casual event. ;O Gymrat, dd is dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde. She can be sweet as punch one minute and then a curt, snotty teenager the next minute. She is SO nice to everyone else. It is such a marked difference so I can hardly wit for her to go back to school. :). In the emeantime, isn't it nice to be home?
