Teaching again Thursday

I haven't taught in almost a month!  I had planned out a step routine but didn't have time to practice so I'm just doing interval training/lifting. LOL, having a puppy is time consuming.  Wink Not really but in the afternoon, she's quietly taking a nap and I can't resist lying down and taking one w/ her. And because she naps for a long time and I don't want to wake her, I stay there.  I can't complain.

I think I told you all that I did the three day Perricone diet w/ a friend early December, just to support her and I always find it gets me back on track.  And, last Oct some time I stopped drinking wine regularly (I had a glass or, on occasion, two, 2-4 times a week).  It wasn't the wine but the food I wasn't eating w/ the wine but between the wine, the diet and ski season (it's not the skiing as much as I don't have time to snack), I've not only lost the odd weight I put on over summer/fall, I'm at an all time low, except when I was training for the marathon.  I really don't get fixated on weight but this is unusual because I'm not nearly as strict on what I'm eating.  Anyway, what are you all up to?

Good morning all.  My pants are tight!  I think that once I get myself a little slimmer, I will be in a better mood!  I had a nice day yesterday and I DID go back to the yoga, first time since October.  it was not easy and I was interrupted several times by family tho I did retreat to the bedroom.  But I was determined to report to you ladies today that I DID IT and I DID IT :)

I think that part of the issue with my expanding waistline is the menopause thing.  I really have not had a period in 15 months which I didn't expect this soon, at 47..  However I have had a couple of little hour-long periods just to keep me guessing.  The last one was in July.  Here's hoping that I can just zip to the end of that guessing game and be done with it!  I do have lots of hot flashes but other than that, I am just adapting ok i suppose.

Last year I went vegan and I really liked it; my allergies all but disappeared and my weight dropped to a nice place also, and I had more energy.  However, on my honeymoon (I was a widow---got married to my best friend last year!) I dipped back into regular eating and then gradually all but lost the vegan imperative!  It seems for me a tough thing to do halfway.

Well, here I am at work.  I did not walk the dogs this morning.  I went back to sleep after the kids went to school!  I will take a few trips up and down our stairs to at least get my heart beating.  I am enjoying getting to know you.  Here's to a great day.. Cath.

I had to look up the Perricone diet, I hadn't heard of it before. I have been working with a health for about 18 months after a health issue almost 2 years ago. I am nearing the end of it and am doing a rest and recharge period, we are working into an elimination diet, then a cleanse/detox in February and then a reintroduction diet in march. After the holidays I am back to being bloated quite a bit in the tummy area from the breads and stuff that i normally steer clear of. I am doing cross fit again today, the last time I'll do it this week as i am going into work late tomorrow to attend an awards assembly for my 1st grader. We'll see if I can get DH to do the walk with me on Saturday, if not, I may just go on my own.

Grrr I am so irritated today. First thing this morning I wake up to an email from Target saying my name, address, etc had been stolen. Now I shopped at Target before the alleged theft dates so I thought I was safe but apparently not. I have spent the morning going through online accounts changing passwords and security questions. Grrrrr

It is cold and we got a surprise snow here so I don't know if I will make it to the gym or not today. I probably need to put on some snow boots and go outside to wak and destress. The cold and snow may take my mind off this credit thing. Grrrrr

Karla did you get the same generic email that I got suggesting that the info may have been stolen? Or did you get one saying that your info had been stolen?  what a pain in the butt.

Cath, pat yourself on the back for completing yoga! It would have been so easy to walk away from it.  Hey, we all have days where we just don't get everything done that we think we should, walking the dog, getting to the gym, whatever.  I consider that just life!

Arryl, I wouldn't normally recommend Perricone or any specific diet to someone but this person was going to do a three day fast.  So, the Perricone always jump starts weight loss for me and it's full of healthy foods, plus I'm always full.  That's a good thing.  It's actually not even for weight loss but for anti-aging.

Karla, I wonder if you received a different email from the rest of us?  Mine was pretty generic but there was nothing about definite theft.  What did yours say?  And, keep in mind that if you only shopped at Target once, it's likely they don't have records of your email, etc but esp to all your online accounts and passwords.

Cath, I got a fairly generic letter saying that my info may have been stolen so I am taking precautions. I called the bank first thing and they told me to change passwords, etc just to be safe. I guess they are advising all their clients to be very proactive about this.

Jean, I got a pretty generic email but it didn't say which one of my accounts I used so I have changed them all. I shopped in person one time this year and shopped online the week before Christmas. I did buy some things through Amazon.com that came from Target so just in case I changed that too. The people at the bank told me that the situation is growing so I want to be sure I am protected.

And the Perricone diet helps prevent aging? lol Looking at myself in the mirror right now I think I definitely need to look into it. That and an good anti-static hair product. ;-)

Didn't make it here again yesterday.

To answer the questions from yesterday... Paranormal Activity 4 was good but you kind of have to like the franchise.  I bought tickets for Fallout Boy which is the same weekend as Justin Timberlake so we're having to have a weekend of concerts.  And yes, SJ, I have purple hair.

Cath, good for you for doing it!  Sometimes its worth it to make yourself do stuff just for bragging rights.

Karla, the Target mess sounds like a pain.  I haven't shopped there in a while so I don't know if I'm at risk or not.

Jean, animals become FANTASTIC human-weights.  Wink  I cannot tell you how many times I've had to pee but held it because I had a napping feline in my lap.

No workout today.  I had a massage this morning and she was able to work out some of the mess in my shoulders.  I got a job last night that I wanted so I'm excited about that.  It's editing and supplementing a book on how to become a personal trainer.  I've spent the afternoon working and chasing down things.

If I had any doubts before, I do not now - I am officially burned out on training.  (For you new folks, I've been a personal trainer for the last ten years and have recently transitioned to freelance writing.  Health issues forced me to step back and I dropped all but one person.)  My remaining client, whom I adore, is absolutely obssessed with weight.  She loves to make derogatory comments about herself and I just don't have the energy to argue with her anymore.

Cath, I hear ya on the expanding waistline/menopause thing. I think the brain fog started around your age, I would have to look up what my weight was at that time but I think it was 10 lb more than now. The periods sort of stopped around 50 but then I would get one every 6 months for a couple of years so I don't even remember when I became "officially" post menopausal. I started HRT at about 53 and have been on it for almost 9 yrs. (My ob-gyn insists that the benefits outweigh the risks but of course everybody needs to evaluate their own situation). I don't remember losing weight when I started HRT but I do remember really feeling "younger" again---more energy, more clear-headed, sleeping better, no hot flashes or mood swings. Better living through chemistry!! At 55-56yo I commited to a hard core fitness regime for 6 months and got into probably the best shape of my life, and lost weight as a side effect because I was burning lots of calories and also started thinking of my body like a machine to be fueled. So it can be done post-menopause but...it required so much effort that I didn't keep it up. Five years later I've regained all of that weight and my fitness isn't that great these days either. I can tell you that by the 50s you need both diet and exercise to keep weight under control, and it just gets harder as we get older and lose muscle mass, so do as much as you can now. *sigh* So here I am trying to get inspired to get back to working out. As for the "meno-pot" belly, I don't know if I'll ever be able to get rid of it but I'll be happy if I can reduce it.

Cath -YAY for yoga! I thought of you while doing hotel room abs last night! I went through menopause around 45, and had significant weight gain, but it wasn't the only factor in the weight. I 'found' fitness at 47, and lost a lot of weight, most of which style off, but my body will nev be what it was at 25... And here on the other side ( almost 58) I have to say, post menopause is awesome...no cramps, no wild mood swings, no crying for no reason..I had night sweats for a while but they stopped...karla, I have heard that the 'Target' emails could be another fraud attempt...I pretty much ignore unsolicited email although it never hurts to update passwords. I have never shopped at target...not sure why but I guess other places are more convenient...and in reality, I need nothing...except, Gymrat, I want purple hair...I once had a green streak for the celtics, and I think I did try purple but it was really more brown. One time, Christina Aguilera had pink in her braid and it was lovely. Jean, so nice of you to not wake the dog! Hi to everyone els! I am on my way to the airport...not much time for fun this trip but I did walk down Broadway for a few blocks...our office is near the World Trade Center and there is a huge amount of construction. I remembered this morning that in 1967. We took a family trip to NY and my mother told me that they would never be done building New York...guess she was right. Other than walking through the airport, no workout today for me.
