Good Morning All!  I feel so good today.  Not working certainly agrees with me!  SJ's post about retirement gives me some "light at the end of the tunnel" thoughts.  :D  So, I went to a follow-up doctor's appointment to review my bloodwork, and it revealed that I am in "post-menopause" with my estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.  Although somewhat controversial, I am also low in Vitamin D according to this doctor.  So, I am going to the only area-compounding-pharmacy for bio-identical hormones starting this week, along with Vitamin D3 (mixed with K2) vitamins.  According to this doctor, bio-identicals are safer, and many of my issues (disrupted sleep, lack of an immune system, sudden increase in cholesterol, lack of energy/mood, etc.) MIGHT subside within a couple months.  If this doesn't "do the trick", then he will order the tests for thyroid, but we are hoping this will be the fix I am looking for.  This doctor is so high in demand (few doctors go this route), that the first appointment available is not until March.

Any plans of NYE?  DH and I are going to an intimate NYE party at DH's coworker/exec at his company.  DH  seemd surprised that this woman really likes me since he comes across very few people in his circle of friends that I also like.  I guess I really dislike disingenuous people who make idle chit chat and have hidden agendas for which they are not upfront about.  In other words, I would rather be alone than talk about nothing.  Does that make sense?

Let's all make it a safe holiday!  HAPPY NEW YEAR'S!!! (she says with horns bellowing in the background!)

Happy New Year to everyone! It is funny how many of us are going to turn 50 in 2014. I intend to take steps to insure that I am still going strong at the end of my 50's.

I got a call from my doctor today. Back in October, I took that same genetics test Angelina Jolie took because of my health history. As it turns out, I do not have the cancer gene. My twin sister was elated and glad to know that she doesn't need to get the very expensive test done.

I did 6 miles on the Eliptical yesterday and my foot feels fine (my butt is burning a little though lol) so I am thinking that I will work on the eliptical for a few more weeks. I would love to hear thoughts on the eliptical vs. the dreadmill.

No big plans for the night. Hubby has to work. I am having a big dinner for the family tomorrow. It is my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. She starts special ed preschool next week and we are all trying to wrap our minds around it. It has been a long time since anyone in the families have gone out to school and no one has ever had to go at such a young age. We are all putting on happy faces and being supportive though because we know it is very necessary.

It will be very interesting to see what 2014 has to offer!

Karla, about elliptical vs treadmill: I don't "do" either but my observation is that on the treadmill you have the impact every time your foot lands, whereas on the elliptical your feet are planted so no impact. Isn't your restriction on the impact from the heel strike in running? I hope that the problem is healing and you'll be back to running soon, you sound like you're getting kind of stir crazy from no running lol.
