Tired of winter Tuesday

Ugg snow, more snow and another round of arctic air is on the way here. I just somehow knew that this was going to happen because I decided to try to get brave and run outdoors this winter. Prolly good thing I am injured right now or I'd get injured. ;-)

I did intervals on the tread again yesterday (walk a quarter/run a half) and got to 6 miles with no pain, strain, or pulling. I am really happy about it. I am taking today off cardio and only going to do a few miles every other day for a few weeks to make sure I don't get reinjured. I have been doing circuits a few days a week since my injury and I feel really good about my overall progress.

My daughter's first play practice is tonight and I am babysitting while the kids go out to dinner so I have a busy evening planned.

What is everyone else up to?

I have been meaning to get back to my lunch time cross fit class, but after 2 months off, my ambition has been zilch lately. But a coworker emailed a bunch of us wanting to know who else was going, so I went ahead and went. I'm winded, tired and am sure I will be sore tomorrow, but hopefully I can get back to doing it 2-3 times a week at least.

I wish I had the option of lunch time cross-fit. That would be so convenient! I can only handle cross-fit 2 times a week. I felt too fatigued at 3X a week. Do you do any other workouts?

I like this one because its 30 minutes, not the traditional hour long class, so I can fit 3-4 in on a good week, but starting back after a break I am always super sore for a week or two. They added a 6 a.m. and 5:30 pm ones also, but right now i alternate between the 12-12:30 or 12:35-1:05 class depending on my meeting schedules, etc. I used to run often, but only do it occasionally now. I do the occasional yoga at home, usually just a 10-15 minute evening "before bedtime" one or sometimes if the kids are in bed early I'll find a 30 minute to do. My husband and I will take the kids on a 3 1/2 mile walk/jog on weekend mornings when the weather is good and we are in the mood. Its been months since we've done it, but I am hoping this weekend will be weekend we can get back to it, even if just part of the walk together.

It is relatively warm buttering here but I hear snow is promised for the weekend. I went to work super early (6;00 am) so took a taxi n, and then I was running late and it was raining, so I took a tai to the gym. Where my office moved is only about ten minutes further away, but that extra 10 minutes puts it just on th eye of too far. I am about resigned to accepting that cabs are a necessity for me right now....I don't enjoy them...stuck in traffic and the drivers frequently on the phone in a language I can't eavesdrop on....however, I did get to the gym...five minute bike warmup, lifting for chest/back, abs....I am packed and will leave for the airport soon. Argyle, nice to see you...I see you on other boards but I don't know if we have 'talked'. Karla, your daughter must be excited about the play! Jean is probably ski jumping or something...

Aaaahhhh, to be home, away from so many people!  Lots of landmines, one that I stepped in, and lucky for me that a coworker alerted me to it, I was able to try to dig myself out.  I also got my "job offer" from my new employer, so, soon, I will have to change my LinkedIn employer.  :O  It will be a whirlwind of activity for the next year.

I did go to my kickboxing class before the meeting start, and I am, as expcted, sore, which is good.  The downside is my foot is killing me.  It's funny, but the swelling results in pain in the area where my foot was previously broken, and not where I was injured this time.  :O  I can't remember if I told all of you, but dh and I had our first salsa class.  We have another one this weekend.  DH can't hear the beat, which is frustrating for me.  He doesn't take instruction well from me.  :(  He always tries to make me laugh to distract from his lack of dancing skills, and that is counterproductive to improving.   THAT is why we need an instructor!  She is awesome at being persistent in getting him "back on track."

Oh, and my mom called to say that she is ready to go into "independent living."  So, when her name pops up on the waiting list, she the moving process will begin.  I am happy and sad at the same time.

No workout today.  I am thinking of swimming laps tomorrow, since I have a massage scheduled for the next day.  The massage therapist could work out the knots that may arise from swimming.  Is that too soon to start swimming?  Probably...but I really need more cardio!  And I really miss swimming...it's such a great workout!  We shall see how I feel tomorrow.
