the week before the crunch Monday

Hi Everyone!  I hope you all had a fantabulous weekend.  I feel like this is the "calm before the storm," when my brother, nephews, and niece come in for a few days, and then we descend on my mother for a few days for the week of Christmas.  So much cleaning, shopping, and preparing to do!  And I realized, when I hadn't gotten any holiday cards, that I never sent a change of address to my family and friends.  I was embarrassed about not having anything "nice" to say about my son in the my holiday letter for the past two years.  :(  So, life goes on, and I am back to my holiday picture and letter, and, as the saying goes, "if you don't have anything nice to say..."  I just omitted anything about my son.  I have a ton of work, personal items, dogtraining, and dancing this week.  I have been doing yoga every OTHER day, and I am finding that I am much stronger and able to do the most challenging poses with some rest for my muscles.  I am so thrilled that I am starting to do half moon on one leg only.  I thought I would NEVER be able to do that, but I am starting to get the strength and balance down.  Yea for progress!  I am a little sore, but it is a good sore.

Make it a great day, everyone!

Fresh, I am so impressed with your Yoga skills. I thought it looked so easy until I actually started doing it and I realized I could barely do anything. Yoga requires a great deal of strength and I have never been a strong person.

I am so mad at my mother I could spit. She asked me on Friday if I would take her to the doctor on Monday morning because she needed to get some tests done. Saturday night she informs me her appointment is at 6:15 AM and she needs to be there at 6:00 AM. I was pissed that she needed to be there so early but know she doesn't have anyone else to help so I told her it would be okay. Yesterday she tells me her appointment is at the hospital and she is going to be sedated. Turns out she was getting a colonoscopy. I had to go sit in there the entire morning and wait for her. Grrr! She is constantly doing that to me anymore.

My heel is doing much better. I can now walk barefooted with just a little pain and no limp and the swelling has gone down considerably. I should have gone to the doc when it first happened and I would probably be completely healed by now. Ugg

I am doing a total body weight routine at the gym later today with a few other gals and then I will probably do a few chores and finish the book I have been reading. It really is a good light reading story (about a professor who comes up with an application process to find a wife).

Leftover chicken soup for dinner.

Ugh.  I am so sorry for all of your issues with your mother.  I think every one of us has some issues with our mothers.  You are a giving, kind daughter, and, hopefully, your daughters are learning that from you.  :)  I am in awe of YOU for your unending persistence and determination for going forward with running...even in the cold!  I feel badly for you with your injuries, but after breaking my foot a couple years ago, I truly embrace the thought that, "getting old is not for wimps."  :O

It is crazy cold here, and I opted out of dogtraining with the snow and ice.  I bought stuff to make candied nuts and chocolate coverred strawberries because I "have to" make presents for my closest customers who borderline on "friends."  I also got Trader Joe's giftcards for my yoga instructors (at least two of them are "clean eaters.")  I also gave cash to my dogtrainer since he lets me go to his training classes for free/my dog is the  "example" for classes.  I have one more giftcard to get for my ballroom dance instructor.  I really like her, and her services bring me a lot of joy, so...  The FDA gave preliminary approval for a new product that I will soon be selling, so I will be CRAZY-BUSY shortly.  :D  I also got a documented reply from my new lawyer and, therefore, am hopeful that this lawyer will be GREAT.  She is logical and efficient...a good mix for a lawyer.

Karla, I know the aggravation you feel with your mother...but it does not last forever and you will never be sorry for the time you give her. I miss my mother a lot, but. Can't deny that my life is easier...FSN, it is cold and slippery here too. I hope to have enough time someday to 'study' yoga. I went to the gym, lifted for chest and back, and ran a mile and a half. I am having foot issues too...the foot that has the screw from the broken bone is sore...I think I landed wrong on it in Zumba, or maybe it is the cold...or both...I should ice it but I just can't make myself apply anything cold. I baked all day yesterday, which was fun but I dropped my 3 cup Pyrex mixing cup on my brick kitchen floor...millions of pieces of glass. It was the older style measuring cup and I really liked it...I looked at replacements on eBay but the shipping is just too much....so I guess I will have to go modern....

SJ-sorry to hear about your foot. I have decided that a problem with your foot is like a problem with a tooth; Your entire body is affected because you can't take your mind off of it.

And I am not a baker but I do have a one cup Pyrex measuring cup that I love. It is the only one that I have ever had that is marked clearly enough that I can see the lines without my glasses on. I say splurge and get yourself a new one no matter what the shipping cost. ;-)

I think whoever came up with the idea of gift cards was a genious. I was at Walmart the other day and they have a little display with tons of them from various restaurants, etc. I was able to stand there and  get quite a lot of shopping done. lol

Oohh.  I missed that display at Wal-Mart.  :(  I drove to Starbucks, only to find that it wasn't there?!  Or perhaps I was so distracted that I didn't see it?!  Oh well.  The only thing bad about giftcards is forgetting to use them and/or having them expire.  :(  I try to spend them ASAP after receiving them.

SJ, ugh on the broken glass.  I just HATE that!  what did you bake?  Yum.
