Hopefully, this doesn't post twice, as it has in thps tast two days.  I went back to sleep are I woke up feeling a virus coming on.  I got my flu shot 1.5 weeks ago, and it takes 2 weeks to kick in.  With the weather fluctuating, I did not dress appropriately yesterday, and the chill probably lowered my resistance.  :(. Work today, yoga, physical therapy, and a work dinner program tonight...if I can hold this cold at bay.  I probably won't get home until 10 tonight.  "All in a day's work."  At a work lunthat his week, I learned of an Asian pear farm not too far from my house, so I picked up a bag of them...yum!  I also found that Costco has roasted nori in 100 calorie packs which seems to satisfy my salty craving...but, they are addicting!

what are you all up to?

Funny, I must have gotten on the same time you did here so waited for you to do the journal. I don't know why there were double postings the past couple of days but yesterdays were confusing!  I had an early morning client. My boss apologized to me this morning because I've been going in for only one client, almost the whole month. It's the same problem I had talked about--that the other trainer does the early morning and it works out that I have this one (I have a client returning next week).  If only she'd train w/ him, then I could just not go in but she won't. The problem is he expects every client to rest 1 min between sets and then 2 minutes between exercises. That's a lot of wasted time.  I back to back opposng muscle groups/corrective exercises so there is little rest, only when the client needs and I don't dictate rest times. I've read that client directed rest is the best.  As she put it, with him, she was resting more than she was working and for paying $100 per 45 minute session, that was a waste of money.

It's pouring out right now. I'm so tempted to stay home and do nothing but I think I'll head to parkour. It's at the gym that's farther away so it'll be a hike in the rain.  I don't know if i told you all about the woman I met there this weekend. She had broken her fibula doing parkour (I'm starting to think there is more potential for injury than I thought--or as my client said, "No s..., Sherlock!") and needed  a plate. She said, as the orderly was wheeling her to the operating room, he told her she was pretty badass for breaking her leg doing parkour. He said other women he sees her age who break legs do it tripping over a vacuum cleaner or tripping on the stairs. I'll just try to be careful.

FSN, I got my flu shot last week and my allergist told me that it unequivocally does NOT cause the flu.  It can bring on symptoms as your body is developing antibodies but you aren't actually sick.  Maybe that's what you're experiencing.

Jean, I must agree... it's pretty bada$$ to break something during parkour.  And yet, most injury stories are decidely mundane.  Which is why my go-to answer is always "bar fight."  Cool

I got a decent night's sleep last night although I'm still feeling kind of pooped.  I'm not yet sure what I'm doing today.  I may try to do some writing but sometimes the words flow and sometimes they don't.  I'm going to do some kind of workout...  Maybe strength training without compound movements. Those seem to get my heart rate up uncomfortably high and then I have trouble breathing.

Kitty is doing alright.  His Alleve should be available today and that should help.  He is still his cantankerous old self (had a pissy fit when other kitty walked by while I was trying to groom him) so that's a good sign, I think.

Jean, you ARE badass doing park our, silks, and all of that skiing coming up soon!  Sounds like FUN!  I am wondering if its just my allergies with the changing of the seasons...I can "feel" the mold I. The air, and my sinuses are not doing well.  Time for some loratadine!  Ok, enough on the 'putter.  Ciao!

I have spent the last 16 hours running between my bed and the bathroom. Obviously I have some sort of stomach virus. I don't think I'll be doing anything other than laying on the couch today. :(

FSN, Thanks for the heads-up about the nori packs at Costco.  I'll look for them.  I love nori but my husband thinks it's disgusting. :)

Karla - Oh no!  Hope you feel better soon!

Glad kitty is better. FIghting back is always a good sign.

Speaking of injuries, I dislocated my finger at parkour today.  I'm not sure what you're supposed to do but when your finger is pointing the wrong way, the instinct is to put it back so I did w/out thinking. It's slightly stiff but okay.  I'm not sure if bar fight is a better response or parkour to be badass but how awesome would it be if it were parkour after being in a bar fight.  Reading that I'm thinking I'm kind of skewed.

Yuck, Karla!  I HATE the stomach flu!  Take care of yourself.  GR, beware of the nori packs...they are salty and addicting!  Jean, I think you saved yourself hundreds of dollars and a lot of pain by fixing your finger on your own...very logical!

I was reading that they do xrays for dislocations but when my daughter's elbow was dislocated, the doctor just popped it back in place. I have read that it can be really painful and mine wasn't at all. It just felt out of place and putting it back didn't hurt either.
