Woozy Wednesday...

at least, that's how I feel.  I started the HRT, yesterday, and I feel a bit sluggish...probably like a sputtering engine getting a jumpstart!  Since I am drug averse, I started myself on half of what the doc prescribed.  I don't want any migraines, and too sudden of a start might push me over the edge.  I got an xray on my foot yesterday, and there was no visible fracture, however, the doc mentioned that, sometimes, the only way to see a fracture is to xray it weeks after the additional calcium deposits have formed.  Although he said he could put me on short term disablity based on the injury, I asked him not to because that would likely get my job transitioned to someone else.  He told me to take it slow, and reevaluate daily, based on my pain level.  Mind you, I am going to take it VERY SLOW, as this is the longterm viability of my foot!  Hopefully, this is truly just a bruise, but I am amazed that my bones did not break, given the weight of the bench that fell on my foot!  I am very lucky!  I also got my massage yesterday, and both of my shoulders were so knotted/locked up!  I decided I am going to have a weekly massage for my shoulder and hamstring for the next month, and then, I can go to biweekly, and perhaps monthly.  We shall see.  I am pretty sore from the massage, but am contemplating a light yoga workout this evening.  I cancelled my linedance teaching originallly scheduled for tonight.  :(

The warmfront is approaching!  I can hardly wait!

OK, I don't know what I was thinking in regards to yoga, but I can hardly walk without cringing in pain.  I guess it's another rest day.  :(

FSN, don't forget that is is a fair amount of exercises and stretching you can do on the floor.  I worked with a lady several years ago who had foot surgery so we had to modify until she was ready to stand on it again.

The allergies have seemed to settle somewhat... of course, I go again tomorrow to get the shots again.  I could go more slowly and only get shots once a week but I am trying to build up quickly before spring hits.  I've got a client this afternoon.  Probably rest day as I've worked out the last two days.

Thanks, GR, you are right, I shouldn't "give up."  Perhaps I will do some modified yoga.  :)

Good luck with those shots!  I used to feel like a pin cushion when I got them.  :P

Yeah, the backs of my arms look awful.  I get six allergy shots every week and then every other week, I get an additional three shots for the Xolair.  The Xolair is very viscous and seems to leave bruises.  It's a good thing I'm not needle-phobic.  A month or so ago, OP (who is needle phobic) came with me... he was rather pale when we left.  Wink

Fresh, I once had a stress fracture in the top of my foot and they didn't find it until my 2  week check up. They told me about the calcium thing too and that is exactly what happened. I hope yours heals quickly!

Sheesh, I can't believe how many people have busted water pipes. My house is full of relatives today as many have no water due to burst pipes. Plumbers are in very high demand today. My sister discovered her busted pipe when a peice of her living room ceiling fell in. The hole is horrendous looking now. Their pipes froze up despite leaving water running. The same thing happened to my son and his wife but their break is in a bathroom wall. Ugg. So many businesses around here are closed due to busted pipes. This area is just not made to handle the kind of temps we had. And they say it may happen again in two weeks.

It is a balmy 25 right now and I am heading to the gym to destress. I hope to get access to an eliptical. It is January and for the next 3-4 weeks there will be lines on the cardio equipment.

Gym-I would die if I had to get 6 shots a week. I am such a horribly whimp when it comes to needles. How can you move your arms??

Omgosh, I know I am not the one to be giving out advice on foot pain but having just gone through this I say STOP and rest. When I finally decided to do nothing I started seeing improvements.

I was supposed to go to the podiatrist today but they had to reschedule my appointment (busted pipes). I did jog a mile recently and it felt fine but I am NOT going to over do it until I get completely cleared.

What a mess with all the pipes!  At least you've avoided it too.... so far.

I'm kind of a bruise magnet anyway so more bruises are no big deal.  My arms aren't sore after the shots - they just look a mess.

I feel like I am losing my mind....Monday when I got home from work, I only had one glove. (it was warm here Monday). By the time I left the gym Monday night, I had lost my hat....Tuesday, I found the glove under my desk...I asked at the gym for 'lost and found'. ...no hat...tonight, in the locker room there is a basket for small lst things..my hat was there...but I didn't have my workout shoes...maybe my brain is frozen...the shoes were with my swimsuit that I didn't use last night. I foam rolled, biked, and lifted in my socks....my toes were cold, but I couldn't complain because it was my own fault....Karla, yikes on the pipes...I have been worried about my place on the Cape...the man who 'took cRe of' things there died last year, and we are winging it...the other woman who does a lot of stuff and I tried to figure out if we needed to shut off the feeds to the outdoor faucets, but I could not turn the shutoff...and it was in such a hard to reach place tht I have to believe that our elderly caretaker wasn't turning it off...we had a heat issue last night, and while the plumber was there, my neighbor aked about the shut off and he said we didn't need to....so now, if something happens, it won't be our fault! He is a great plumber, so I trust him...FSN, you can do a lot with abs and stretching that keeps weight off the foot....it gets boring, but it is doable. Gymrat, I am a fainter....not every time, but I have fainted having blood drawn...I fainted once while typing at a blood drive...when I got my ears pierced...when my sister in law described her labor....she had told us 'I only pushed three times' and when she was filling in the details, I was thinking 'it will be ok, she only pushed three times' but before she got to the second push, I was on the floor. I always try to tell people 'I might faint, don't worry' but it scares them no matter what....I am ok in a crisis, but don't describe anything medical to me....I am not going to work the rest of the week, although I will dial in to some meetings...I might go to Zumba at lunch time tomorrow and Friday....it is fun cardio....
