Hello My name is angie and i used to weight 245 pounds in march of last year. my nutritionest set me up with 1,450 calories a day and i never complied with the calories. i always, ate less maybe like 900 a day, and now that i have lost about 72 pounds is like i'm stuck and i won't loose any pounds, maybe like one in two weeks. so when i went to see her she said that the reason is cause my body is retaining instead of burning any calories .So my question is this true?

Hi Angie and welcome. I'm no expert but I've always heard that if you consume too few caloriess your body goes into starvation mode and starts to store rather than burn. I am going to take your question to our expert nutritionist, Dr. Madelyn Fernstrom, to see what she has to say about this. :)

PS. Congrats on the weight loss-we would love to have you share your motivation tips with us!

Thank u so much. I'm actually trying to train my body to jog i really really want to try and do a 5k run even if it's by myself but that's my goal to do things i haven't been able to do ever! I would love it if u had any pointers or advice for me.Ihave started already and the way I'm doing it is by warming up 5 to 10 minutes and then jig one minute and walk one minute for 20 minutes then 5 to 10 minutes of cool down.

How neat Angie, that seams to be a lot of people's goals this year. Have you checked out the Couch to 5K program? http://www.c25k.com/ I've heard a lot of great things about it. Also I know that Leslie has a DVD with walking and jogging; I believe it's called Walk n Jog that may help you.

It sounds like you are on the right track! (hehehehe-pun intended) ;)

I hope you are able to get to that 5K. I have to tell you that two years ago my husband went from completely a couch potato to being able to jog 5K in 30 minutes in about 4 months. He started off slowly and added in a few extra minutes each week and next thing you know he was doing 3 miles. I was SO proud of him!

Angie, my husband is NOT into cardio so I was totally shocked when he finally got started jogging. He has always done weight lifting so he does work out but he does not like to do cardio. He struggled and struggled but kept on going and even he was very very proud of himself. He never imagined he could run 3 miles because he had never in his life been a runner (and my hubby is not a small man).
