I know more and more people are living well into their 80's and 90's and suddenly we have a rush of 70+ year olds at my gym. They are joining in classes and hiring trainers at a faster rate than any other group right now. My own nearly 75 year old mother just joined the Silver Sneakers and her reason: She plans to live well into old age and intends to stay active so she can get around by herself.

Do you have health goals for old age? Are you increasing activity now so you can continue to move about when you are well into an older age? What steps are you taking to stay healthy?

Well, with my family genes, there's a very good chance that I will live beyond 80.

I just plan to live as healthy and as independently as I can, but without an age goal. As I'm single and don't have any kids, there isn't this need to live so many years in order to make sure that I am there for them until they are independent. I concentrate on the quality of my life and experiences, and do my best :-)

BTW, my mother has also hired a personal trainer. He was my father's physiotherapist, and he has a lot of experience working with the elderly.

I am trying my level best to stay healthy enough to knot only live to 80+ but to live WELL at 90+. Since I have four grandparents who managed to make 80+, even with serious illness, I am keeping track of their illnesses
