Don't Have Time to Work Out? Really??

I have had some fabulous results with my commitment to being fit and health since January. There isn't a day that goes by that someone at work or who I know personally says "Wow! You look great! What are you doing? I need to do what you are doing!" And I tell them "P90X and Insanity!" And more times than not, they say "Well, I don't have time for that" and that's the end of it.

Really? You don't have time? I hear this from people of all walks of life. Single, married, some have kids, some don't. Some work long shifts, some don't.

I have a full-time, Monday through Friday job and a part-time job as a Beachbody coach. I have two kids that I have to get to school every day by myself. Both are involved in after-school activities. I could easily say I don't have time too.

But when I decided to commit to P90X, pushing play 6 days as week, I meant it. I had to give up some things. I had to stop sitting on my computer playing Farmville. I had to give up some TV shows (as if my life isn't BETTER because I didn't watch the Bachelorette?) I had to pre-plan my meals. I had to shop and cook with those meals in mind.

When I decided that doing my workouts after work was taking too much time away from my kids, I changed my workout time to BEFORE work. I get up at 5am during the work week. Do I enjoy that? NO! But I'm committed to keeping up with my fitness AND my family. It's just not an option for me. I HAVE to work out. I HAVE to eat clean and healthy. That's it. And now I've stuck to it for ONE YEAR!

No matter how busy your lives are, there are ways to find time to work out. You might have to make a few adjustments to your schedule or shorten your workouts, but not having enough time is not a legitimate excuse! Make exercising part of your routine!

Great job girl !!!

I totally agree with you and it bothers me when people say they have no time to workout, you can always find time or make time. Even if you only have a few minutes a day. I recently started posting fitness videos daily on my blog to show people what 3-5-10 mins a day can do... and how easy it is to fit it into your day right in your own home with little space.

I love your energy and your drive to me and stay fit!!!

KEep it up

Hi Danielle-yes, 10 minutes at a time can make a huge difference. I have several of those 10 Minute Solution DVDs and I love them. It literally only takes 10 minutes at a time to work out. Who can't spare that??

I agree Danielle. You just have to make it part of your day, like showering or brushing your teeth!

And don't forget that working out can be a social time, too. Why sit on the coach chatting when you could be exercising and chatting.

this is what I have been trying to tell my dh but he is just soooo stubborn...he works long hrs but when he gets home all he has energy for is the bed...(we have a tv in our room with xbox) need I say more?? if I left the meals up to him the kids would probably be doing their own meals....and they are not interested in beans and chilli....I keep telling him to "find" the time or he will find the time in a hospital bed.... I started walking almost 9 yrs ago after I had my last child just to get out of the house and have some "quiet" time ...lol and I feel so good after my walk....but I am looking for other things to do...I kind of made a point for me to do this for "me" cuz if "I" don't do it nobody can do it for me.... Kudos to moms who get up at 5 am to go work out...I wish I could do that but I do not have the space to do my workout in my house right now....too small...I will just settle for doing it when the kids leave for school ...
