You read a lot about teen girls on FB, or other social media, and how they carefully craft their image, their pictures, etc. so they're really not putting themselves out there but putting out a "brand" of themselves. My son made a comment about my daughter and how she poses for pictures (this included eye rolling about it). But, as I look at some FB pictures, actually quite a lot of them, there are a lot of women who do this, at least among my friends. Hands on the hips, chest out, standing sideways, very pageant/red carpet poses. Do you all see this?    Do women who do this realize how fake it looks?  I have nothing against posing for pictures, in trying to get a decent shot. It's just when it's the extreme that it catches my eye. I wonder if I notice it more because my son pointed it out and I had to show him that it's not just my daughter. I don't really see guys doing it.

Almost all teenage girls I know do this and most of the time their mothers will tell them how ridiculous it looks. lol I don't know of any boys that do it. And I know of only one grown woman that does this and it looks so completely stupid but it comes as no surprise because she is totally stuck on herself and imagines that she is some kind of fashionista.

Maybe it's a teen girl thing that I never noticed because I don't friend teen girls (I know a lot of moms who do!).  LOL, maybe we share the same friend who poses.  I have one who takes it to an extreme where everything is a photo op.

No, older women do it, too...especially if they, "...are on the prowl."  I was annoyed when one of dh's old girlfriends friended him, with new pictures each week that show off her assets, and, in the beginning, flirting with dh.  Thankfully, his response (at least, to me) was a disgusted, "...yeah, she got her teeth and boobs done."  Some people choose to not see reality, and others do see the reality of it.  How many pursed lipped pictures can one person have?!  Dd's employer made a policy of what is and is not acceptable, and dd soon secured her fb page, and now posts very little for the world to see...more of a mysterious person...I must be locked down from her site or else she is using different social media.

Yeah!  It's the women who call themselves cougar and MILFs who seem to do it!  A friend of mine said girls they knew from high school would friend her husband and do that. He'd gained a lot of weight so she posted a picture of them at Halloween, he as he is, she as a hot hooker (yeah, she's one of the posers) looking amazing. She said they all disappeared.

It's smart that your daughter secured her site. That was one of the conditions for my kids.  I also monitor their Twitter and Instagram.

I think it's very much a generational thing.  My husband noted a while back that teengage girl posture is so exaggerated that it looks like they have lumbar lordosis.  And, and that duck lips thing can go away.

Also, while I'm at it, get off my lawn.  Laughing

I guess I expect that from young girls trying to present themselves, but it surprises me the number of women my age who do it.  Moms.  It's the red carpet look for all photos.

I don't get it.  Half the time, I look like a homeless person.  I try not to look too scary but that's about as much as I can be bothered. (When I'm going out, that's a different story - but grocery store...  nah.)
