Has anyone been on/to a weekend or week long retreat?  I have started the hunt for one, most likely a weekend long one.  Long story, but for the most part, its me with the litlte ones all the time and my full time job.  DH works 40-60 hours a week in the off season (right now) and 70-80 in the high season (summers).  I am burned out frankly, grouchy with life, etc.  and after a lot of pushing from DH, I am finally going to take some time for myself.  I know it needs to be away from everything, but I also know I need something "guided", not just a weekend away.  I have found one that looks pretty interesting in Colorado, but was just wondering if anyone has been on one or has some experience or knowledge of any.

I've never gone on a retreat, but Simmons Ollege often sponsors women's leadership seminars that I find very inspiring...and Boston is a fun place. If that is too far or you, colleges in your area might do something similar....being with a grop of strong women with ideas to share energizes me, although it might not be for everyone...

I have never been on one but I am very interested if you find out any information on one. I have heard they are great but I would not have a clue where to begin looking for something like that.

SJ, any other time, those types of retreats are right up my alley and I would love to attend one, but right now, for me in where I am in life at the moment, I need something "down", very low key and relaxing that i can just veg out, maybe do some hiking, some yoga or exercise, some meditation or something.  But something that has those options, not just a place to go and be in a hotel room where i need to figure it all out on my own.

Karla, I am waiting on an email back from my health coach I have been working with.  She has some friends that she thought may have some suggestions.

No but I would love to do one. I do go away pretty often for week long ski trips w/out my family and it's a great rejuvenator while I'm there.  I'll warn you that it is hard to come back smack into reality, as much as I love the being away part.  Maybe you could find one that would teach you "survival" skills for when you come back like meditation, yoga, etc. There are some good "spas" that do it, some high end and some lower. I've looked at Deerfield Spa in Pennsylvania. There are the higher end ones like Canyon Ranch, Miraval.

Thanks a ton Jean!! Canyon Ranch was the one I couldn't quite think of, but I think that one may be a bit more than I can swing expense wise. Deerfield actually looks very much like what i am looking for, and convenient enough that I could schedule it around the time that i can drop the girls off with my parents for a vacation this summer in Michigan and make the drive over if I wanted to.

Let us know what you decide on...those sound wonderful!  I recentlly saw an ad for a yoga retreat based out of the town that my mom lives in.  I would have LOVED to have gone...great women all motivated to continuously grow and learn.  It sounds like a great time to re-energize, enjoy, relax, and bask in serenity.  :)
