Workouts week of August 5

I am always happy for a new week....I am going to a wedding on Wednesday...an odd day for a wedding, but two pwoplw I love much.  It will be small, just family and very close freinds, and requires a long car ride...not my favorite thing.  I am going with my brother and his family, so the start and end times are outside my control.  But I took Wed - Thur - Fri off and wil end up back on the Cape so all is good.  But workout will be different...

Sunday - abs, zumba

Monday - 10 miunte bike warmup, lifting for chet/back, abs, run 2.5 miles

Tuesdat - 10 minute bike warmup, lifting for legs, abs, maybe swim

Wedenesday (in the morning) - 10 minute bike warm up, liftting for shoulders, bi's tris, abs

Thursday - maybeabs,  zumba if I get to the Cape early enough

Friday - abs, run 2.5 miles

Saturday - abs, zumba

Tomorrow is my mother's birthday.  Last year, my nephew came for the weekend and we picked out her gravestone.  Because of that, I was not that sad.  This year, I am sad.  I went to the cemetery this morning - I am trying to grow black eyed susans- -one of her favorite flowers - and they need watering.  But today I went to go to the cemetary, even though I know she is not there.   We always spent her birthday together on the Cape, and this year, I will not be there...I will also miss her at the wedding because she loved the groom a lot and she would be happy about this....I guess in some way she will be there....anyway, I antcipate an emotional week, and I will have to try to not fill the sadness with food....

Happy.. I see you on this board as well as other boards and enjoy your posts.. but I have a question if you dont mind?
I know you are about 56 right?? How and where do you get the energy to work out so much? I am 58 and I try and walk a few times a week but anything more than that I am not sure about.

I dont like gyms but I tried zumba and that was fun...I am going to try and get back into that if my lazy self will allow it.(lol)

So what do you do in Cape Cod? I have been there a few times and its great but I never found anything too exciting there.

Sorry about your mom and the sad days.. but yeah she is probably with you always.

Take Care

Whew, I need recovery after the weekend of working out.  We're heading to Mohonk on Tuesday so there will be a lot of kayaking, biking, hiking, etc.  Probably an equivalent amount of s'mores.  We'll be back on Friday. I'll try to catch Zumba Sat and run Sun w/ friends.

I am a pretty high energy person. I take vitamins religiously, and I have for years - a women's multi vitamin, and a vitamin D calcium supplement and an iron supplement added in the past two years. I only drink water except for two cups of tea each day (and the occasional glass of wine). I never really liked soda, and I drink my tea black. I think this helps minimize the amount of sugar I take in and I think that keeps my energy up. I am a good sleeper...I don't go to bed that early but once I am in bed I usually sleep through the night or fall right back if I wake up. I think working out gives me energy. For me, working out is just what I do...like brush my teeth, go to work, eat, sleep, work out....I have family on the cape so sometimes I visit or do things with them. Where I stay has a pool, and I sit there and read. Go to the beach. Shop. Theater. Just hang out. I live in the city so the cape is a nice change. SJ

Hi;

I dont think I could do all that you do as I have always been a low energy type of person.. It drives me crazy but I just wouldnt be able to do so much without pain (lol).. I went hiking yesterday and played miniature golf and I will be resting most of today (lol)... I do take Vit.D and was using some natural stuff but I am trying to tweak some of that..

I am not working right now but I still would have a hard time working out everyday.. My walks everyday are just enough I can handle and the hiking and just doing regular life things .. I dont like gyms much but would like to get back into zumba ..

thanks for the post..

enjoy Cape Cod..

Walking is working out.  I am finding that, with all of my injuries, my workouts are getting more "sedate" compared to the "pounding aerobics" I used to do.  In fact, I am learning that yoga and pilates, what I previously considered to be not enough, are GREAT workouts if you really focus on form.  My quads were burning from pilates exercises I did while laying on my back.  :smileysurprised:

I think that I find inspiration from the other posters, as well, so that is something we definitely share in common.  :smileyhappy:

We all started at the beginning--whether it was one class or one walk or one run, etc.  The key is to keep that one up for a while and then add another.  Slow and steady.  And, every day walks is working out every day!  The funny thing w/ energy is that it builds on itself, like the physics rule, a body in rest, stays at rest, a body in motion stays in motion.  Anyone who wants to have a healthy lifestyle belongs here.  I don't think any of us have reached our goals so we're all striving for more.

Oh; How I wish my almost old bones co operated with me. After I went on a hike at the state park which is lovely but hot I was exhausted and then I went to play miniature golf.. When I got home about 9:30 pm I took a shower and fell asleep in a second..

The one thing I love is being outdoors and the fresh air and it puts me to sleep so fast..

When I walk though for almost an hour I seem to be okay the next day.. Yes; I guess the key word is pace as I am 58 years old. Although its not old I do feel it some days which frustrates me because when I have pain I am not a happy camper. I do have some bone loss but the walking is supposed to help with that.

Since last Jan. I have lost 30 lbs. with diet and excerise but then my doctor gave me a water pill so it feels like I cheated sometimes. I have high blood pressure and on meds and would like to get of of them.

thank you
