I went to walmart Sunday afternoon and got my flu shot. I was headed to health and beauty to pick up a coupld things and saw that the local hospital had a little booth set up and it only cost $25.00. I pay that just for the co-pay at my doctors office so I decided to give it a try. I was really surprised at how many people that are getting shots there and don't know why I never did it before. Typically we haul the whole family into the doctor's office and it cost us an arm and leg to get everyone's shots.

Do you get a flu shot? Do you think those things hurt more most shots? lol

LOL-you are too kind! When I have her all day I certainly feel like a grandma. I can spend hours at the gym and still not be as tired and exhausted as a day with the grandbaby. I don't know how I managed 4 kids.

Hey Jean-my granddaughter is doing well. She is a cute as they get! She'll be 9 months old soon and she is trying to sit up on her own and she scoots and rolls. She's pretty on target for what she would be had she been born on her due date. She's got some life long issues we will have to deal with but we are not focusing on anything but each day as it comes. :)

Oh I know what you mean! I was so darn sick at one point I thought I might die and didn't care.
You'd think that it would cost employers less to pay for the flu shot for all their employees than it would be to pay for the medical care for even a few if they get the flu.

I get the flu shot every year, and I also got the pneumonia shot a few years back, after contracting pneumonia prior to that. :(

The last time I go the flu, I was literally stuck in bed for 7 days straight and didn't know if I'd be able to get back to work!

There are definitely good reasons to get the flu shot and I'd do it in your case, too, being near someone so young w/ a compromised immune system.

Oh I totally know what you mean about adding unnatural things. Who knows what it all really is doing to us. We usually do get one because of bad past experiences with the flu, but this year my granddaughter's pediatrician has asked all of us who are going to be in direct contact with her during flu season to please get the shot (you know she was born 15 weeks premature and has a compromised immune system) because it could kill her if she gets it.

16 years ago I got Influenza A and it eventually turned into Pneumonia. I understand why it killed so many people years back. I was a healthy young 30 something and it took me almost 3 months to recover. I have never been so sick in all my life and it hit me like a brick just out of the blue.

My husband got it a few years later and he was down for the count for a good 10 days. He is not one that ever gets sick and it dropped him fast. He too struggled to recover for weeks.

I'm not sure if the shots we get have kept us from getting it again or if we have natural immunity but I pray we never have to go through it again. It is one doozy of an illness.
