Do you have to stretch before yoga?
Sun, 11-07-2010 - 3:50pm

I have been doing a resistance type workout for some time know, and decided to give yoga a try. I was just wondering if you have to do a stretch before doing the yoga like you do with other types of workouts?

I am going to use a video, might concider a yoga studio in the future.

Any comments are welcome, that you.

I think it would depend on the type of yoga.

I tend to do a sun salutation first, repeat about 3-4 times. I take it slow at first as I can tell I'm not limber, but by the end of the 3rd or 4th I'm able to deepen my poses and feel ready to move on.

Like Firstglimpse, I used to do the sun salutations at the beginning. I'd take it slow, then use the breath to gradually deepen into the poses. It prepares the mind and body.

Thank you bolth for the suggestions. I did do my first yoga workout today, and I do think I will try what you bolth suggested being as I didn't feel as lumber from the videos warm up.

Also thank you firstglimpse for the Nike suggestion. I did go to the websight and I do have a few friends concidering giving yoga a try.

Hope you have a good day!:smileyhappy:
