Have you ever buddied up with a friend?

Have you ever buddied up with a friend to do exercise, stretching of some sort a few days a week? Did it help? Why or why not?

Back when I first started Jazzercise, I tried to "buddy up" but it didn't work because schedules didn't mesh...

Normally I'm not social exerciser, but this summer I ran at lunch with a friend, and am doing some training for a cross-country race with a girlfriend, which is fun - but not at the same level of intensity as I would work out on my own.
