Half Marathon Training

Hi, I'm new to the board, I had been planning on running a 10k @ the end of Feb. After further research I discovered it is either a 5k, 1/2 or full marathon, bummer! I suppose it's the 1/2 marathon, formal training begins tomorrow. I am nervous, happy, excited and apprehensive. I have been running a 5k a few times a week for a few months so I believe I'm up for the challenge. I'm hoping for encouragement and I'll check in periodically.

Having faithfully trained since my last post, it's time for an update. Eight miles last sunday, my farthest distance to date. Training truly is mind over matter. My husband suggested I put a few Emminem songs on my ipod in celebration.(chuckle chuckle) Light snow and about two inches accumulation accompanied this mornings five miler. Tomorrow ten miles for breakfast! I'd better hit the sheets, wish me luck!

Wow! This is more like a blog than a board. I will continue to post anyway! Lack of posts nor energy will stop my quest. Yesterday was the 10 miler part of my training, after running 5 in the snow the day prior I figured it would be no problem. I mapped out the course and began @ 530am. 8.53 miles and two hours later I was exhausted, and home. Rest for today and I'll continue training tomorrow, planning my long run next sunday after a day of rest saturday. I can do it! 35 days until race day!!
