Running in cold weather

I am getting discouraged because of the cold weather. I am uncomfortable and cold when I start and then too hot when I finish. I think  I am not dressed properly. Can someone please help me? Describe what I should be wearing when running in about 30-40 degrees. Maybe I should not even be trying at these temps?

Hi there and welcome to the board. We've been having some technical issues so it hasn't been as busy here as it was in the past. The rule of thumb is to dress as though it is 10-15 degrees warmer than the actual temperature since you will be warming up as you run. At 30 degrees, I typically wear shorts with lined running tights underneath, a long sleeve Under Armour shirt and a lightweight jacket that I can unzip if need be. And of course, a hat and gloves.

Happy running!
