Check out your shoes. Are they worn? What are you currently walking in? When was the last time you bought new shoes?

I don't walk enough to ewear them out! LOL

I currently wear one of two pairs of New Balance all terrain walking shoes for around the neighbrohood (bought both pairs at the same time so when the current pair shoes wear, I will swap them out). When I walk at the gym, I have two pairs of Nikes that I use for their indoor track (street shoes aren't allowed inside).

My gym has rules about certain shoes too including no black soles on the basketball floor.

I am currently wearing a pair of K-swiss tubes that I bought just 2 months ago and I'm loving them.

I am so hard on shoes but I hate having to buy new ones as my feet are really sensitive and finding a pair of comfortable shoes is always a huge ordeal.

Oh you'll definitely have to share the name when you find out. I'm always looking for something comfortable!

Funny you should ask!

Last month, after going to the doctor several times over a two-week period for a sharp pain in my toe and having every sort of test there is, I was referred to a podiatrist, who diagnosed osteoarthritis in the joint of my left big toe and told me to get new walking shoes because the pair I was wearing were too worn to give my toe the stability and support it needs. I loved those shoes, but they were eight months old and had a lot of miles on them.

As soon as I got the new shoes — New Balance 928 as recommended to provide the proper fit, stability and motion control for me — the pain began to ease up. Now I can do my full walk without having to slow down or stop because of a stabbing pain in my toe.

It's amazing what a difference it has made!

p.s. — The old shoes were New Balance as well, just a different model.

Hi Maureen and welcome to the group! Ew on the osteoarthritis! I have it in my right hand and it's not fun.

I'll have to check out those shoes and see if they might work for me too. I have wider feet so I usually have to make sure they are wide enough at the toe area. I already have to deal with calluses no matter what I do and when my shoes don't fit properly, I get blisters as well.

How far do you typically walk?

I stuck with New Balance forever and then finally someone at the running store talked me into a pair of K-Swiss and I am so glad I tried them. (lol-I tend to get hooked on things and stick with them forever come good or bad.)
